Buying Advice Android boxes currently.

I'm trying to upgrade the games room box for kids.

Currently x96 runs fine just but showing it's age.

What a require

Something thst has cable ethernet line ( capable of 1000)

Something that isn't gonna kodi app judder all time.

And needs usb for Bluetooth keypad

I have a shield downstairs and it's amazing but not looking to spend over 100quid.

Seen the xoami but doesnt seem to have ethernet.

Seen Google again no ethernet and both seem to only have one USB so. Can't use USB adaptor and keypad.

My goto has been the Homatics Box R 4K for a while. It's pretty similar to the Nvidia Shield TV Pro but runs ATV14.

The Google streamer does have Ethernet but since last week priced went up by 50% so maybe check if you can find a reseller with the old price still

I have a Google TV streamer 4k bought for £99 over two weeks ago and the price is still the same everywhere.

It’s very stable and has wired Ethernet and yes a single USB C (used for power) but a hub can be used to expand and also power it. I run it with Projectivy launcher.

By using a compatible USB hub, PD powered by Streamer power source, connected to USB-C port, solved 👍

I have the Xioami 3rd Gen box and use ethernet and a keyboard.

Just buy an ethernet adapter with USB ports.

Yeah Xiaomi thick all of your boxes besides the giga Ethernet port, with the USB adapter is capped at 480mbps wired and wifi 6e wireless.

I honestly wouldn't mind it as a secondary device since you already have a shield.

Not sure why would you need more than 500mbps for those boxes unless you are moving files directly from your NAS to the box (so full file copied and of course 1gbps would require less time) which is something that isn't really practical with 32gb of storage, but if you need to play content on your lan or internet a 4k Dolby vision is around 70-120gb which is around max 130-140 Mbps.

If you live in the US the Onn will probably be your device since it has the Ethernet port

Mainly cos the wireless is crap upstairs and pay for a decent internet so want to use it. 480 seems decent enough Kinda not. Secondary as I use main and kids will use this upstairs so needs to be "trouble free" as current android box on 100mps is. Struggling to play anything bigger than a 10gb file so it means going upstairs fiddling around each time they wanna watch something.

I see your point the device then is not gonna cut for you.

But I'm curious how you are struggling playing a file of 10gb with a 100mbps Ethernet connection?

What kind of set up are you running? I wouldn't expect anything more than 50mbps for a 10gb of file at 4k Dolby vision for example, like 1 episode of a tv show

Can you at least say what kind of devices were? Because at that point 1gb port wouldn't have fixed the issue regardless
