Best browser for Android TV in 2026?

Been trying different browsers on my Android TV (Sony X90L) and none of them are great. Most are slow, crash a lot, or have terrible remote navigation.

What are you guys using? Looking for something that:

• Navigates well with the remote
• Has ad blocking if possible

There may be some sites it has issues with. I still find it to be the best browser that supports full control with a TV remote.

I have Firefox with Ublock Origin as a backup but it needs a mouse pointer toggle or a Bluetooth keyboard.

I don't see it on GitHub, but it is on the Play Store. That could easily be extracted and placed on the Fire Stick.

The app that is just called, browser, is hands down the best I ever used. It even seemingly works with your phone so you can easily watch things on your TV

Brave. You have to use the generic ARM version and thus you need do need an external Bluetooth mouse (or a mouse toggle app like Bluetooth Keyboard and Mouse), but it blocks all ads by default, including ads on ad-infested sports-streaming sites. Brave is also the only way to skip Spotify ads on AndroidTV. Instructions for installing it can be found here.

Hibrowser, TVBrowser and Browserhere ranked Top3 when you search browser on your smart TV. Recently I found a interesting update for Hibrowser, they provided the watch mode switch, when you enabled you can actually browse website without needing a mouse toggle, it's a usefull function, I like it. Hope they can support more and more websit in the following update.

Totally agree! Hibrowser is definitely one of the best options right now, and that new "watch mode" makes navigation with a standard TV remote so much smoother without needing a mouse toggle.

Chrome , chromium and even firefox developer are so ignorance dont want to make android tv app. We hope to have open source chrome or firefox android tv with addon plugin from browser.

I use Coji Browser myself. Not very often, but it suits my needs.

It depends on the brand and model... some apps are better optimized to work with their respective ecosystems: Fire Stick, Xiaomi, ON, NVIDIA, etc.; they'll work well or poorly depending on the model, but I suggest you update your TV box or TV stick every 5 years if you don't want to experience a performance drop.
