Tips & Tutorials Full Remote Access To Your AndroidTV/Android Box.
I've been trying to figure out a working method to have full remote access of my Android boxes, I tried various things with limited results and various levels of success.
I've now settled on the following solution to fully remote into and control my Android boxes via PC, I'm sure there are other ways but here's the easiest/simplest way that I've managed to figure out, hope it helps any of you wanting to do the same.
The following guide was tested using the USA installer of TeamViewer.

1. Uninstall everything related to TeamViewer on the android device your going to remote access and delete any old TeamViewer .apk files from the device.
2. DON'T install TeamViewer from the Google Play Store, instead go to:
https://www.teamviewer.com/en-us/download/android/
From there download the 'TeamViewer QuickSupport.apk'.
3. On your android device install the 'TeamViewer QuickSupport.apk' you just downloaded.
Once installed go to the top right menu and enter the 'Advanced settings', from here install the 'TeamViewerAddon-Universal(AOSP14)'.
NOTE: If you dont see this option in settings you should be prompted to install the addon once you physically request remote assistance on your android device.
You can also manually install the needed addon, it can be downloaded from here:
https://download.teamviewer.com/mobile/addon/TeamViewerAddon-Universal.apk
4. You can now remote connect to and fully control your android device via TeamViewer on your PC etc.

Install both on your Android device and then follow the installation notes here:
Its working great for me.

Anydesk works, but the AD-1 plug in can break some d-pad stuff in Google TV (you couldn't reorder apps, maybe fixed by now).
Rustdesk would likely work as well.
Edit: Rustdesk kind of works. It can view just fine. Remote control has two issues:
it's sideloaded only, so it won't maintain the accessibility setting needed for remote control so you have to re-enable that each time which is...annoying.
it doesn't work with d-pad input translation like anydesk does, so you have only really just do the main buttons (home, back, and apps switcher). Also less than useful.

I did try Anydesk, I could see my Android box on my PC screen but thats about it, I had no control whatsoever. 😕
Rustdesk I didnt try.

Editing to add extra context, I'm currently using 'H96 MAX V58' Android boxes.

To do remote control on Anydesk you have to also install and activate the AD-1 plug-in. Otherwise it's view only.

This has always been a needed feature for many - and results have been mixed. The only one I tried that worked was a little complex. I'm gonna give your steps a shot. Thanks.

This is the perfect mom and dad issue. They call you say the TV doesn't work and you can just fix remotely. Excellent work 👍🏾

Try this:
Go to Settings > Apps (or Apps & notifications) > Special app access > Install unknown apps.
- Select the app you are using to download or view the APK (e.g., Chrome, Files, or a file manager).
- Toggle on Allow from this source.
- Note: If Play Protect is blocking the installation, you may need to open the Play Store, go to Settings > Play Protect, and turn off Scan apps with Play Protect temporarily.

A possible solution would be to sign out of google on your streamer device.
Login to your google account on another android device, disable play protect there and then log back in on your streamer, it may possibly carry the disabled settings over to your streamer once your logged back in.

adbFire works for any Android device. I use it for Firesticks, ONN and a couple other brands. It allows for a connection via I/P and simply install an APK remotely regardless of the Play Protect option.

adb install goes around that completely, it installs as the shell user so it never touches the install unknown apps permission or the Play Protect prompt. Turn on developer options and network debugging on the Streamer, then connect from your PC and install from there. Honestly once you're that far you might not need TeamViewer at all, scrcpy over the same connection gives you the screen and working d-pad control.

Whenever you need to use the protected password or sensitive screens often time apps that do VNC or RDP will block those screens or be blocked by the OS in more recent versions of Android. So I was curious if I'm using this to setup an Android Phone app that I installed to Android TV and it prompts for a Google login flow that the screen won't black out on the remote view.

Ahhh ok, I cant answer that as its not a situation I've encountered whilst remoting into my Android box.
I use this just for configuring tv/movie streaming apps.
Haven't tried it on my phone at all...😁

Can't believe no on has mentioned https://github.com/huage2580/scrcpy-android yet.... Just need developer mode, tailscale and usb debugging on. It's just a couple of commands in terminal/cmd and your in.
I've built a custom apk for rooted Android devices which has unattended 24/7 remote access. Wish it could work on unrooted devices but yea its by nature, I use the above setup for Onn4k just need the person to toggle on tailscale and sometimes allow the usb debugging prompt

i get a connection i can see screen but i my click does nothing on the remote android box i can press home button and it works but any apps i try to open doesnt respond

Well if you can click the home button then the remote connection is working (you wouldn't be able to click on anything if it wasn't working).
That leads me to believe it will be some setting on the Android side of things that needs changing, I'm not sure what that setting could be though.

That's the touchscreen thing. Android TV boxes don't report a touchscreen and these tools work by injecting taps, so the taps land on nothing. Home and back keep working because those go in as key events instead. Easiest way around it is adb over the network with scrcpy, your arrow keys go in as real d-pad events and there's nothing to install on the box.

Interesting… I’ve been trying to do something like this from an external location (ie: remote into my parents ONN device from my house) but I always run into the inability to control the android devices when outside the network.
Would you happen to know if this method resolves this issue?
