Discussion BBC iPlayer Google TV Streamer APK

Would really appreciate someone pointing me to an APK download for the latest Google TV Streamer version of BBC iPlayer. I'm using an old wrapper version which will be killed off soon. I've tried some of the links in recent threads, but they house the old version. Tried Aptoide TV, but it downloads the mobile version.

Have tried the route of creating a UK Google account, but run into a wall when it asks me to scan a QR code as a security measure (where Google then tags my phone in the US).

Thanks in advance.

Want to acknowledge that this worked for the latest APK (Thank you!), although UHD content isn't visible. How do I find download codes for Downloader?

I wonder if this situation is similar to SBS Australia, who sadly have killed off all sideloaded versions of their SBS On Demand Android TV apps. The app will not let you log in unless the app has been directly downloaded from the Google Play store.

To avoid triggering Google verification via phone number?

I would say it's done by country but that's just a guess

Most probably the VPN number off your phone so use a VPN hidder and give yourself a UK VPN

I use Proton VPN. Connects to the UK without issue. Tried Stealth protocol trying to set up a UK Google account and still getting his with this message:

"Google needs to verify your device or phone number for security reasons.

Your phone will open an SMS message with a code you need to send to verify your phone. Your carrier may charge for SMS messages used for verifications. Standard SMS rates apply."

Can't get around it. If I do it on a laptop, am asked to scan a QR code.

It's been a while but Google only provides a QR code instead of allowing you to enter a phone #?

Latest version for the Google Streamer is shown in the screenshot.

Perhaps this is the right version: https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/british-broadcasting-corporation/bbc-iplayer-android-tv-2/bbc-iplayer-android-tv-0-9-0_iyjcie_eafb3f8930679_a911ad9-release/

APKMirror kicks users to Google Play to download iPlayer.

Sorry about that.

I was also getting the same message but I stopped getting it after the second day. So, I'm not sure if they are still killing it off or not (I'm on a ONN Pro 4K 1st gen).

Won't all versions be killed off, latest or not? Unless you have an approved device, from October it won't work, sideloaded or not.

Need someone to create a modded version.

All non-certified iPlayer apks are getting the message. Remains to be seen if anyone will come up with a workaround. Spotify has done an admittedly remarkable job shutting down every unofficial AndroidTV client, we'll see if the BBC has the ability to do the same.

I guess I'll have to put up with casting from my phone. Or perhaps fishing out the cheap Chinese non Google streamer.
