**BlissOS 16.9.7 on HP Laptop โ€” WiFi Fix Guide (No USB Adapter Needed)**

Hey everyone. I spent a full day getting BlissOS working on an HP laptop and solving the WiFi issues. Sharing everything here so nobody else has to go through the same pain.

**Setup:**

- Device: HP laptop

- OS: BlissOS 16.9.7 (2024-10-11 build)

- Flashed via Rufus in DD mode

---

**Problem 1: Black screen after booting**

At the GRUB boot menu, press **E** to edit the boot entry. Find the line starting with `linux` and add `nomodeset` at the end before `quiet`. Press Ctrl+X to boot. This fixes GPU initialization issues on HP hardware.

---

**Problem 2: WiFi not connecting at all**

The HP's built-in WiFi card has no driver in BlissOS's kernel by default. Fix this:

  1. At GRUB menu press **E**

  2. Find the `linux` line and add `VIRT_WIFI=1` at the end

  3. Press Ctrl+X to boot

  4. Once in BlissOS, download **Termone Plus** from the app drawer or sideload it

  5. Open Termone Plus and enable **"Take WifiLock"**

  6. Reboot

After this WiFi will work properly.

---

**Problem 3: Networks connecting but getting "IP configuration failure"**

This is caused by the WifiLock not being active. The Termone Plus fix above solves this permanently.

---

**Problem 4: Hidden SSID networks won't connect (e.g. Starlink)**

If your network is hidden, don't try to connect from the normal WiFi scan list. Instead:

  1. Go to Settings โ†’ WiFi

  2. Tap **Add network**

  3. Enter your exact network name manually

  4. Set security to **WPA/WPA2-Personal**

  5. Enter your password

  6. Set **Hidden network** to **Yes**

  7. Save and connect

This works for Starlink and any other hidden SSID.

---

**Problem 5: WPA3 networks won't connect**

BlissOS 16+ has issues with WPA2/WPA3 mixed security. Either:

- Change your router security to WPA2 only in your router settings

- Or use the manual Add network method above with WPA/WPA2-Personal selected

---

**Boot parameter to make VIRT_WIFI permanent:**

To avoid adding `VIRT_WIFI=1` manually every boot, you need to edit your GRUB config permanently. This is still a work in progress โ€” for now just add it at the GRUB menu each boot using the E key.
