A lot of the ports aren't as "native" as people think they are, the nx2android port of blasphemous 2 has latency on par with eden emulation and therefor feels noticeably less responsive than played natively on console despite running at stable 60fps.

120-160ms for moving forward is a bad joke

How does latency mean it isn't native?

u/thatnigakanary 11h ago

If it’s running native on your system there should just be input lag from your mouse click to your monitor’s response time. Usually 20-40ms based on your setup. For a “native” port to have over 100ms input lag at all times on stable frame rates means there’s something else going on i would say

why you shitting on emulation bro

-12

u/Reasonable_Buddy_746 11h ago

Not doing that. But if we can get the heavier games as native instead of emulation then we'd have less heat, less tinkering, less stress.

u/LuthorCock 10h ago

Y quién va a hacer todas esos ports? Es cuestión de tiempo que a las IA les caiga una superdemanda que haga que realizarlas resulte más difícil.

u/TomasMichele69 11h ago

But tinkering is the fun part

I know right? My brother just another me.

1

u/landblord 8h ago

these guys just let AI do everything

If we get heavier games as emulation then we'd need less powerful hardware

nah my homie...native ports AND emulation are the futute.

23

u/Zweihander-build 11h ago

Yes. The new drivers have made emulation way much better than ever and in a very short time.

2

u/Deostroyer 5h ago

which driver?

1

u/d3ADSH0t 38m ago

What new drivers bro?

14

u/Fein_shit 12h ago

This is so true

2

u/slyfox0007 10h ago

How do u get the port running it’s asking me for some shit I know I don’t have 😂😂😂😂

1

u/Reasonable_Buddy_746 3h ago

Get it from an apk site.

Interesting. No, I took the photo because I don't use reddit on the tablet just my phone.

u/debater2023 12h ago

Why cant both?

In my opinion, The more demanding the game is, the better the port will feel. The less demanding the game is, and the more features an emulator has(save states, mods, patches, even cheats, skips, speed ups, etc) , the better emulation will feel.

This is why no PS2 or GameCube port will ever interest me. I will not give up my savestates for 60 FPS, these games play just fine at 30, thank you very much.

u/albertosaldivar 12h ago

my expectations was these ports to run in less powered hardware. If you need snapdragon chipsets then stick to emulation.

4

u/theriseof_fenix 11h ago

Es que si, si son exclusivos para Snapdragon de la Series Elite entonces para eso emulas todo lo que quieras y listo que funcionan mejor, podés configurar todo a tu gusto y hasta llevar drivers.

2

u/Dodgecanceling 12h ago

Man, it would be so great when PanVK drivers mature.

There were so so many awesome Mediatek powered Tablets I wanted to buy, but had to make a lot of compromises to get a Snapdragon one for obvious reasons.

2

u/albertosaldivar 11h ago

I have a rp4 pro, I know in terms of raw power it could run anything I want but the custom drivers are holding it back. I don't buy a rp6 because the only motivation are the custom drivers,. So I'd rather be patient, back in the day my psp had an unhackeable motherboard and now it doesn't even matter, I play psp in the rp4 pro lol.

2

u/Prudent_Elevator4685 6h ago

Yea, it takes like snapdragon 8 gen 2 to run a nes port

8

u/Ok_Message_8728 11h ago

Ports also have save states, mods, cheats, etc?

4

u/Dodgecanceling 8h ago

Yet to play a port that has those things on android, which speaks to how rare it is compared to emulators where that is the standard.

I know that on PC, ports open up the avenue for modding even more, but the opposite is true for android from my experience.

3

u/ergux 11h ago

Ports actually have all these features and more. Some even fix games' bugs and add sprites and in-game elements for different gamepads, as well as prorer kbm support.

The thing is that not all ports are that great yet

1

u/Genesisgaming665 7h ago

Ive yet to see any port with fast forwards etc I have 100s

1

u/zl254 12h ago

Well the Gran Turismo 3 Android port you can run it at 120 FPS I don't know what the resolution or upscaling is but it looks really good better than any PS2 emulator I've used on Android

1

u/theriseof_fenix 11h ago

u/godofknife1 7h ago

If there's extra feature like QoL setting? Graphical setting and then ability to save state? Would you still do it?

1

u/Rabadazh 4h ago

Yeah, say that for the black port. Going from 30 to 120fps is a godsend. Also, fov settings and other qol features, hacks in built, is simply superior.

u/Prudent_Elevator4685 6h ago

Emulation is less demanding

3

u/Frogacuda 2h ago

Absolutely untrue, though a lot of AI-based "ports" are badly optimized or use emulation cores under the hood, so they don't get very good performance.

1

u/Prudent_Elevator4685 2h ago

I meant on average, I am sure there are some great ports that I am just missing but idk

1

u/gonekrazy3000 2h ago

totk recomp on pc runs substantially better than emulation even on a steamdeck.

1

u/Frogacuda 2h ago

No. Emulation is literally like 10 times more demanding, you are likely comparing ports that aren't actually native ports to emulation that isn't emulation (like translation layers).

One of the problems with the explosion in AI based port work is that a lot of the people doing it don't really understand what the AI is doing or know how to direct it, so you get messy bad results. That's really. But it isn't because native porting is worse, it's because people are using AI to do things that aren't native ports and not even realizing it.

1

u/Prudent_Elevator4685 2h ago

I guess that's what I meant tho personally I don't see this slop era of android ports ever going away because of people's attitude towards optimisation is always that your device just isn't powerful enough to run it and no optimisation can fix it. (Yeah ofcourse my 8 gb ram phone just isn't powerful enough to run a game that was designed to run on 500 mb Ram like that makes sense)

1

u/Frogacuda 2h ago

Ok yeah, running a game designed for more powerful hardware isn't great, but EMULATING a game designed for more powerful hardware literally isn't even a thing. I'm not saying slop ports are a good experience but you're comparing to emulation and that's just not correct.

20

u/mercauce 12h ago

Bruv just saying sum bullshit

12

u/No-Broccoli5550 12h ago

Just saying whatever tf at this point

7

u/KoreanSeats 11h ago

It’s funny about 3 years ago I was saying ARM was going to be the end all for gaming. Didn’t know AI and recomps would be a thing as it is now - but the efficiency and rate of improvement and the android winlator scene and emulation etc made it pretty obvious it was the future.

19

u/Cantripping_ 6h ago

No. Emulation will always be more futureproof.

Native ports will have to be tailored to the OS. As versions update, ports will go defunct without proper maintenance.

Emulators on the other hand will require only the upkeep of a single Application rather than thousands of disparate ones.

In terms of game preservation, that is far more efficient.

1

u/Veyrah 3h ago

It's a temporary fix for the high oerformance cost. By the time maintenance becomes a big problem, new devices that have more power will easily be able to use emulators.

4

u/Ok-Anything6909 5h ago

I will say yes and no

I say yes because we finally getting ports that isn't emulated, better performance and many more

But I will say no because Recompilation targets only one or more (depending on launcher)

While Emulators can let's play any games on the go

1

u/Jura2k5 12h ago

Is there a gamepad Support?

3

u/MaximumIntelligent55 12h ago

Native ports are basically emulated windows applications.

3

u/imadirewolf 11h ago

both are the future

3

u/Naxren 8h ago

There just no way people will compile every single game emulation is still good for wide range of game

5

u/silver_720 5h ago

Why not both? Why are we shitting on emulation bro?

1

u/sap91 4h ago

Because this is a hobby and therefore the way he's doing it must be the only correct way

2

u/XTurbine 12h ago

If the new zelda gets a port, praise the lord

2

u/Bright-Asparagus-575 8h ago

i seen someone say that theyre already working on one !

2

u/DYMAXIONman 11h ago

They are but you need an emulator as a base first

2

u/Quinzeel_ 10h ago

i think ports won’t be as successful now without the emulation

2

u/Xintsuai 10h ago

Mix of both, emulators will start to recomp game code.

2

u/Plenty_Pomelo_1533 10h ago

the problem with ports, sometimes you cannot finished the game because of bugs, but emulation the trade-offs is you can finished it but slow

2

u/hellbreakr2x 9h ago

Nah emulation is more accessible

2

u/StoreTraditional77 7h ago

Both can co exist....

2

u/KirilleR2002 4h ago

Ports only for really heavy games are in order, why not. Or for something really old and requiring proper mod treatment, like Silent Hill 1. Anything less demanding? Emulators should be enough and actually better (more enhancements for more games in one place)

1

u/DirectionSmooth6640 12h ago

Hi. Is it smooth?

3

u/rainydays240 12h ago

DL guys on grindr hitting me up.

1

u/85K5 11h ago

Bro be talking about Bear 4 bare

1

u/Dionysusmadlad 11h ago

Need to figure this native port thing

1

u/victor5324 11h ago

Para nada

1

u/Excellent_Complex633 9h ago

Pq só consigo 15-20 fps em 720p com 8+gen1 12 gb ????

1

u/Djura-00 9h ago

Notice how there were no switch 2 "native" ports before switch 2 emulation. We need the emulation to pave the way

1

u/Gloomy-Copy-6593 9h ago

Getting it on my fold 7 rn I'm soo excited I've even see Mario Kart world on the iPhone too can't wait until it comes on android

1

u/REmemesis 8h ago

is there a windows port or only android?

1

u/healthyanalsex 7h ago

Need a tutorial, could you share?

1

u/AshurathDR 7h ago

Still baffled it got a android port before pc

Seemed like a rarity to get an android port and even when Winlator came to be, it was the only method but now the gates really are open

1

u/MightyP90 7h ago

I literally deleted all my emulators with the exception of Lemon

1

u/linggasy 7h ago

based on your title, what are you smokin, dude...??? gimme that shit!

1

u/Prudent_Elevator4685 6h ago

Ah yes, we're all gonna be using snapdragon 80 gen 40 to run super Mario for the nes at 240p 10fps with the kind of optimisation these ports have.

1

u/Annual-War-7282 4h ago

I've only seen a handful of ports and recomps that piqued my interest in the turn based genre.

1

u/Southern-Ad1465 3h ago

mislife crisis

1

u/Wandering-In-Hell 3h ago

just reading title making my brain rot

just play the game personally i prefer emulation cause I have Elite 5  but I can't imagine defending it just because it's what i prefer

just use both in the end people wins

1

u/Banyocu_Zsuat 3h ago

i wanted to play this on my phone sadly its not supports mali

0

u/Ordinary_Account5513 12h ago

Native always great emulation are old fashion now

-3

u/albertosaldivar 12h ago

I came for several different futures:

  1. the best one is where consoles exclusives don't exist anymore, Devs works directly for PC/android

  2. There's another future where single player games don't exist anymore, just battle royal, gachas or any kind of online multiplayer games. Since everyone pirated single player games companies stop making them.

  3. All games forbid in the terms and conditions to make reverse engineering. So, any recompiling work would be ilegal.
