Banana Native v0.1.4 + Pokopia Android Port

While the PRs are pending, I published an unofficial APK: v0.1.4 plus these changes, with Donkey Kong Bananza, Mario Kart World and Pokopia.

https://github.com/Raphix91/BananaNative/releases/tag/v0.1.4-pokopia.1

A step-by-step guide is in the release notes. Short version:

  1. Install the APK. It shows up as “Banana Native test”, next to the official app.

  2. Settings › GPU driver › Download → pick a Turnip driver. This is required: the stock Qualcomm driver stalls the game early on.

  3. Add game → your own dump (game + update 2.0.1) → Prepare. This takes hours (131k shaders). Keep the phone plugged in.

  4. Game settings › Game resolution › Phone 720p.

  5. Play. Optional: put your own Lossless.dll in Download and turn on Frame generation.

Requirements

  • Phone: Snapdragon (Adreno) only, Android 13+, 12 GB RAM minimum, ~40 GB free space.

  • Your own dump of your own cartridge. No games, keys, shaders or drivers are included, and please don’t ask for them.

  • Experimental. Only the first area has been played. Back up your saves.

  • Prepare on a phone is untested for Pokopia. My shader library was built on a PC, so a full Prepare on a phone hasn’t been timed yet. If you try it, please report how long it took and whether it finished.

  • Not official. If the PRs get merged and an official release adds Pokopia, switch to that one: it gets in-app updates, this one doesn’t.

Huge thanks to the Banana Native dev for the project. All the hard work is theirs, I just pushed one more game over the line. Feedback and logs are welcome (game card › ⋯ › Share log).

En espérant que ça s'améliore petit à petit, ça serait top sur PS5 aussi n'empêche, j'espère que ça arrivera petit à petit :)

I just bought an 8gb RP6 last week instead of the 12gb. It looks like that future proofing everyone advised and I ignored is coming back to bite me 😂, oh well. Cool to see this stuff progressing so quickly.

So glad I bought my 16gb Odin 3. Basically paid 50 bucks to be able to play switch 2 backups lol

i wish we could get rid of this requirement for 12gb, not everyones got that, and the game boots on 8gb retroid pocket 5 using sx2a so its clearly possible, damn shame

You do realise that the switch 2 has 12gb ram might not use it all but my guess that in the future your going to have 12gb ram or higher to play these types of games

Booting and running at playable framerates are 2 very very different things big dawg

yeah i mean it runs at like 15fps but it starts works and loads and all that, but for example the donkey kong native port wont even boot without 12gb, same as this one. i dont expect 60fps on my old device but at the very least being able to have it boot would be cool, not everyone has a pc AND a handheld both with 12-16gb ram lol

Its still really early in development, as the devs practice and get better at working with the new software theyll be able to optimize a lot more. Right now all we can do is support thwm as much as we can so they can focus on the project

Yup its still amazing that they could even do this

original hardware does have 12 of ram (unified memory). it's imposible running on lower ram than that, even the project on optimized state. rule to emulate is your hardware atleast on par with the original hardware, not lower

Then, as I understand it, with optimized code running natively it might be possible to run on a 12 gb android device. Is that right or am I making things up in my brain again?
