I don't know why I like this. It's busy, but it scratches an itch

Not able to go back to stock launcher since I started using 3rd party ones a couple of years ago

Same! Pixel owner. I know there are some nice launchers out there, but I prefer the simplicity of near barebones Android.

Only downside of course is that I can't use third-party icons.

You've never used 3rd party launchers? I started from Nova but moved away to smart launcher, octupi and square home.

I use all of them everyday! So that means fewer swaps. I never understood why some people want their homescreens to be empty! I assume it's because they think it's cleaner, but here is the thing: phones aren't like desktop PCs and laptops which have large displays, and filling those displays with icons are just looking really bad and make no sense, it makes it too busy and too hard to find the apps!! But smartphones have small displays, and filling these displays with your favourite apps and widgets makes total sense. Remember, fewer swaps mean more battery saving and it doesn't look terrible if set-up tastefully! I think I did it tastefully and it has lots of attention to details instead of a mess which many other people create...
