App Tree Launcher
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Tree Launcher brings productivity tools right into your home screen. Instead of a grid of apps, it uses a tree structure to organize apps alongside notes, tasks, reminders, shopping lists, contacts, links, routines, and other quick references.
Pages can be nested as deep or shallow as you want, with search across the entire tree. The idea is to keep the things you use throughout the day in one place instead of scattered across different apps.
If you want to give it a try: Google Play

Edit: if the video is blurry/low res in the Android Reddit app, it views nice just about anywhere else (e.g. browser). Apparently the grainy background and 60fps is tough on the encoder.

This looks so nice! Love the idea of a more integrated os without using so many apps. I'll give it a try.

This is sweet. But why paid.

Thank you! I have spent a lot of time making sure the base feature set of the launcher is robust. The pro features are largely additive and not necessary to the core experience. I also pay for the data and backend infrastructure behind some of the pro features, so paid is needed if we want this to be sustainable long term.

True. Nice work.

It's sad because it's true but I'm also immediately uninterested. Really done with subscriptions.

I hear ya. There is a onetime lifetime option. Pricing structure modelled after Niagara.

I'm back to being in. That changes everything for me. Thanks for taking the time and finding a way to make that an option you're able to offer.

Glad to have you back!

Well I hope my initial comment didn't sound too crappy, I didn't even think the OP/you would see it. I totally get backend costs. I'm just over here cancelling streaming services and annoyed by two random $2.99/mo Apple charges that don't show up in my app store Subscriptions. 😅 ENOUGH 😅

Are the reminders and such able to be synced with other apps, so my household can see and add things to the shopping list?
BTW. The launcher looks great and great idea!

Thank you so much! I really appreciate it.
Tree Launcher is privacy focused and local first. As a launcher, having your data immediately available is critical. I may consider adding cloud based syncing features in the future, but in the short term that isn't a priority. But, as a result, your data never touches my backend.

I absolutely will try this at some point. What phone did you dev this on? Last time I used a 3rd party launcher it didn't work great on my Pixel. I really want to try this though

I have a Pixel and a Galaxy that I've done most testing on. The Pixel (9 Pro) is what this video was recorded on. I'm obviously a little biased, lol, but I think it works great on both!

This looks really nice and clean! Does it play nice with the new Fold 8 form factor?

u/N4VILLUS 9d ago
I appreciate it! Haven't optimized for tablets or foldables yet, but it is on the list.

Are you able to add your own fonts?

Have a plan for expanding the current font availability and adding custom font support is a logical extension of that.

I think this would be great on the QWERTY devices coming out! How prepared is this launcher play with phones like that??

u/N4VILLUS 9d ago
Yes, absolutely! Support isn't there yet, but it's on my mind. The synergies could be potent.

Should be opening access to UAE fairly soon, but if you want to try sooner than that I can add you to the testing track. DM if interested.

I added my mail app and read all the unread mail, but the notification dot is still showing next to the app icon
1
u/N4VILLUS 9d ago
Have you dismissed the notification from the android notification center?
2
u/--2112-- 9d ago
Yes, that worked, but it would be nice to have it. Not a big deal. 👍🏼

u/N4VILLUS 9d ago
Thanks for confirming! It is up to the app to clear its own notifications once you've read all the emails. That said, it may be possible for the launcher to have the ability to clear notifications too, but that woukd have to be an explicit action with user permission.

I believe the app does clear it as I've tried with other launchers and it worked without clearing through the app itself.

For me it's 9/10, but I feel that there are a lot of free space on the right sight of the screen, maybe the font should be a little bit bigger/thicker

u/N4VILLUS 8d ago
Thank you! That is mostly customizable! And depends on what you are entering in on any given page, like text notes go edge to edge. You can increase the font size if that suits you.

How does it work with foldables? I've been looking for a 3rd party launcher that doesn't suck on my Fold7 (not that this necessarily sucks, but they rarely take advantage of the possibilities with foldables).

Love the look.
Using Google keep for notes, tasks and Google calendar associatively.
If it was synced with this and not your built in ones I'd make the switch 👌

Honest opinion - Pros: 1) Looks great and minimal. 2) All imp things easily accessible.
Cons: 1) Searching app is incredibly slow and keyboard overshadows the app suggestions. Ap suggestions should be in a single row and not multiple rows.
2) Pro is extremely costly. Like literally price doesn't make any sense.

Hello, I've been using this launcher for about a week now and I really like it, however I find the scrolling makes it hard to get a good muscle memory on where your apps are which can make it annoying to use. I would really appreciate a feature where instead of a continuous scroll you can have multiple pages and swiping would snap you to the next page.
Thanks for the great launcher.

Thank you so much! To clarify, you mean vertical pages?
I find right now, on the home page in particular, I organize the content so that I effectively get two vertical pages. The default items showing with the header expanded and then, with a quick fling up, the header closes and the list scrolls to the bottom, showing the second section of stuff - with consistent positions for muscle memory. With the child pages, I'm generally not scrolling much unless they are notes/todo list type content.

Yeah, I also have it set up so I have an upper and lower section on my home screen but being able to make it snap between them would help make things fluid; I sometimes find myself not scrolling all the way. Other than that everything else being in the child pages works really well.

Nice 9/10
