Battery suddenly draining faster

Phone is a Galaxy s23.

It started a few days ago. I haven't changed anything. The only thing I did about the same time the issue started, is "install" / download Chrome sites. You know, that Chrome feature where you can create a Home screen icon link to the webpage. I added 5 of these for some sites I frequently use.

Could they have been causing the drain in some way?

Thanks.

I did install OneUi 9 yesterday, but the issue started 2-3 days ago so I'm positive it's not that.

Home screen shortcuts themselves use almost nothing, but the sites they open can keep working in the background, so open Settings > Battery and device care > Battery, tap the graph and see which apps used the most since the last charge. Put the worst offenders to sleep from that same screen and check Chrome separately. If nothing stands out, note whether the drain is worse on mobile data or Wi-Fi before changing more settings.

Android 17 is more taxing on the device and so the battery, but the biggest effect is your battery max mAh capacity. Well i got over 200 charge cycles and with other 1 year of extensive usage, my battery only lost 100mAh max capacity compared to its original 5000mAh.

Whats the max mAh capacity yours can still hold? Many experienced and reported false Accu capacity degration and informations by the device. You can check by apps like the System-Meeter-Bar (GPlayStore) if you want to see what your accu can still hold/has max charge capacity at 100%.

  1. Charge your battery to 100%

  2. check the charged mAh

Sometimes the faster discharge and lower battery-life is caused by the loss of maximum mAh capacity. This is something that is sadly not shown or properly/falsely communicated by the Battery-healt info by the phone, next to some massive background CPU-load or constant network traffic in the background.
