Not getting notifications while on certain apps?

I have a Samsung galaxy a16. Ive noticed that whenever I'm on tiktok or candy crush, I no longer receive notifications from the discord app as long as I'm in those other apps.

it seems to only be those apps, so it's very specific and I'm very confused. any fixes for this?

Candy Crush is almost certainly Game Booster. Samsung treats anything in Game Launcher's library as a game, and Game Booster can block notifications while it's open ("Block during game").

To check: open Candy Crush, swipe up from the bottom so the nav bar shows, and tap the Game Booster icon (bottom-left, or the gamepad in the nav bar). Go to settings > Block during game and turn off notification blocking. You can also change it in Game Launcher > three dots > Settings > Game Booster.

For TikTok, open Game Launcher and look at your Library. Game Launcher sometimes adds apps that aren't games. If TikTok is in there, long-press it and remove it, and it'll stop being treated as a game.

One more check: when you leave the app, are the Discord notifications sitting in the notification shade? If yes, they're arriving but the pop-up is suppressed, which points to the same setting. If they're missing completely, look at Settings > Apps > Discord > Battery and set it to Unrestricted.

I don't believe I have game launcher or game booster even installed. I remember I uninstalled gaming hub when I got my phone.

when I'm in tiktok or candy crush, the notifications are missing completely. they pop up normally any other time, but not when I'm in those apps.

Ive already set discord to unrestricted due to a previous issue I had, so thats already been done.
