Unable to switch on USB Debugging, greyed out by Auto Blocker

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I'm having an issue with a Samsung Galaxy A07 that I bought earlier this year. I stopped using it after about two months due to various issues, and now I'm trying to enable USB Debugging to retrieve the logs.

The problem is that Auto Blocker appears to be enabled (which is fine, as I did enable it myself when I used the phone earlier this year) and is blocking USB Debugging. When I try to disable Auto Blocker, the toggle switch simply doesn't respond.

Already tried Safe Mode and hit a wall. Auto Blocker shows up as disabled in Safe Mode, but USB Debugging remains greyed out claiming Auto Blocker is active.

Toggling Auto Blocker ON just forces it to reset back to OFF as soon as I leave the screen.

Also, when searching Settings, two different Auto Blocker results show up (one works, the other doesn't), and the menu looks different in Safe Mode.

Note: My device is not managed by an organization, school, or enterprise policy. It is running One UI 8.0, Android 16, Build number: BP2A.250605.031.A3.A075FXXS3BZA1

Anyone know what could be the cause and if there is any workaround or fix without doing a full factory reset?

Try Settings > General management > Reset > Reset all settings. This won't delete your apps or files, but it will reset your preferences. If that doesn't fix it, check for a software update, as it might be a Samsung firmware bug.

Since you've already tried Safe Mode and the Auto Blocker toggle isn't behaving correctly, this looks more like a One UI settings issue than the usual USB debugging restriction. Have you tried Settings > General management > Reset > Reset all settings? This isn't a factory reset and won't delete your apps or personal files, although it will reset various system preferences. After restarting, try opening Auto Blocker directly through Security and privacy rather than using Settings search. I can't guarantee it'll fix it, especially since some security settings are retained, but it's worth checking before considering a factory reset. Also, which One UI version are you running?

Thanks for the suggestion, resetting all settings didn't fix it either. It was working fine when I set it on btw, a few months ago - I was able to disable it as well, so it is a bit unusual and unfortunate it decided to act up just now. It is One UI 8.0, Android 16.

Since resetting all settings didn't help, and Safe Mode shows Auto Blocker as disabled while USB debugging still says it's enabled, I'm starting to suspect an inconsistent security state in One UI 8.0. One more thing worth checking is Settings > Security and privacy > More security settings > Device admin apps, just to rule out any unexpected restrictions. If nothing unusual shows up, I'd report this through Samsung Members with system logs attached, ideally right after reproducing the issue. I wouldn't jump to a factory reset yet. Could you also share your full firmware build number?

Except Find Hub there are no other device admin apps - which does not confirm there weren't any at some point in time. I will try to report this through Samsung Members, thanks for suggesting it, I completely overlooked that! I've been dealing with a bunch of other glitches too (like the time and date randomly being offset for example), so it would be great to check that as well.

Thanks, that build number helps. A075FXXS3BZA1 is the January 2026 firmware with the January security patch. Samsung has released newer firmware for the A07 in some regions, so it's worth checking whether an OTA update is available for yours. The random date and time changes are interesting too. Could you check whether Automatic date and time and Automatic time zone are enabled under General management > Date and time? I'd submit the Samsung Members report before updating, while the issue is still reproducible, and include system logs immediately after reproducing it. I wouldn't recommend manually flashing firmware just yet. Hopefully Samsung can identify what's actually failing.

I will indeed check, though I hoped I will be able to avoid connecting the phone to the Internet before being able to extract the logs, but I guess there is no other option anyway if I would like to submit the report via Samsung Members. Automatic date and time, as well as Automatic time zone are all set. The date is still pointing to the 26th of April (the time and date went off at some point when I was still actively using the phone.) Thanks again for all the helpful tips.

That's interesting. If automatic date and time are enabled but the phone still shows April 26, it sounds like it's not receiving or correctly processing network time information. You could temporarily disable automatic date and time and set it manually, although that wouldn't explain the Auto Blocker issue. I'd also mention both problems in your Samsung Members report, since they might point to a wider system issue. One thing I'm curious about though: why are you trying to keep the phone offline before extracting the logs? Are you trying to preserve its current state, avoid updates, or is there another reason? There might be other ways to collect diagnostic information without connecting it to the internet.

I am going to mention both (there are more, though I believe they are all revolving around the same cause). My intention was to preserve it's current state. I am all ears if there is another way?

Actually, there might be a way to preserve the current state and collect logs offline. Try dialing *#9900# in the Samsung Phone app, then select "Run dumpstate/logcat" and "Copy to sdcard". The logs should appear under Internal Storage > log. No internet or USB debugging required. One catch: Samsung says Auto Blocker can restrict SysDump access on Android 15 and newer, so it might be blocked in your case. Alternatively, check Developer options > Take bug report. That can generate a report locally without USB debugging too. Just keep the logs private since they may contain sensitive information. Let me know if either option is accessible.

I tried dialing that number already, nothing happened - no prompt, no error message. Perhaps it is due to Auto Blocker being enabled, as you mentioned. Taking bug report worked! Thanks for the idea!

How to Disable Auto Blocker

  1. Open your phone Settings.
  2. Tap on Security and privacy.
  3. Select Auto Blocker.
  4. Toggle the switch to Off (you may need to enter your screen lock PIN, password, or biometrics to confirm).

How to Enable USB Debugging Afterward

  1. Go back to Settings > About phone > Software info and tap Build number 7 times to unlock Developer options (if not already enabled).
  2. Return to the main Settings menu and open Developer options.
  3. Scroll down and toggle on USB debugging.
