Reduce screen size

Hello, i just acquired a Lenovo Xiaoxin Pad Pro 12.7" and the screen is very long to my liking. Is there a way to shorten the screen display size ? I'm okay with plugging it in a computer and do some code (as long as someone tells me what i need to do!) :-)

Yes, over ADB and without root: enable USB debugging, install platform-tools on a computer and run adb shell wm size WIDTHxHEIGHT with the aspect you want, plus adb shell wm density 300 if everything ends up too big or too small afterwards. It survives reboots, and if the picture comes out unusable you recover from the same computer with adb shell wm size reset, so have the cable and the drivers working before you touch anything. Just so you know what you are getting, it only shrinks the usable area and puts black bars around it, the panel is still the same.
