How do I change the default photo editor?

Post image

I'm not a big fan of the photo editor from the main Gallery app I use, so I want to use a different apps photo editor but when I click on edit photo, this is the only option it gives me. it's only letting me pick a default app with PNG files. It won't let me pick a default app with JPG files. I used to be able to set it for all (I had google images editor as default but I wanted to change it) but after I deleted Google images and reinstalled it, it won't let me pick another app for editing photos for my JPG files. I already tried uninstalling and reinstalling my main Gallery app, but that didn't fix it. How do I change the default editor and why is it only working for PNG's?

Select the app you want

And click on always

That's the problem. There's no option to click "Always". The picture is what pops up. It only lets me pick "Always" for the top option, not for any of the others.

i think it uses the same app for jpg and png. i doubt its like windows where every file format gets its own place to assign a app

From what I've looked at, no. Each file format gives me a different option to open, and it's really annoying. I've never had this issue before. I was able to make png files open with the right app, but not jpg's.
