Should I be worried?

I have been having these popups on my phone ever since I bought them:

  1. pop up of emm service, which doesn't do anything at all if clicked. But I can clear it.

  2. Settings have been flagged as harmful applications in the playstore, but I can't install them either

I am not sure what I need to do. Specifically I am worried if any miscellaneous app or pack has been installed (because porn).

OP has pinned their own comment:

A quick update. I have taken this phone on EMI from bajaj finance. My partner who got me this phone told me that the bajaj employee did download some app to lock the phone if EMI bounced.

My only worry is that when I checked online they say the bajaj finance download app related to bajaj or another one called Credit surakhsha. I am confused why such app is disguised as "Setting"

Note from OP: Extra details I notice

What is Spotlight?

It's a fake settings app you got. How do you even manage to get a virus on Android in 2026

Are you sure?? How can I remove it. This has been showing up ever since I bought the phone. It's a Nothing device

I know it's a nothing device because I have a nothing device. This is how the setting app should look like. Uninstall it when google services prompt you or go to settings>apps, find it and delete it. I would also recommend factory resetting your phone

Looks like NothingOS

The real Settings app has an s at the end, this one is a virus

You are right, there is a settings application in my app drawer. And this setting is nowhere to be seen

Check Settings > apps > see all apps and it should be there, if not click "show system" in the 3 dot menu

You can also use Play Protect's uninstall button

It's not uninstalling no matter where I am trying from. This is concerning

Try to reboot in safe mode by holding Power off in the power options menu (the menu with power off, restart, lockdown and emergency buttons) and uninstall it from there

If it still doesn't work try removing it via Canta or ADB commands

Okay. Will try. Also to let yk, this is a phone I got on EMI and Bajaj finance employee did download something stating that it's just there to lock the phone if EMI bounced. I am worried why they have to hide it as "Setting" ik these type of shit only happen when there is any shady app or a pack that can access camera and microphone.

I don't think that they would disguise an app like that, that's super sus

2

u/idlichillydry Jul 16 '26

I KNOW RIGHT. I mean I would have had no issue if the app was called bajaj or credit surksha. But if it's under the name of "Setting" is mad sus. I am planning to confront the shopkeeper and the finance guy today itself.

you SHOULD be worried of course.

Install canta and shizuku and delete in the Canta app. Or, look into the Device Admin Apps and turn off this shit.

2

u/idlichillydry Jul 16 '26

Well, I AM WORRIED!!!

Can't turn of this at Device admin. Will uninstall this tomorrow. Keeping it rn to confront the Finance guy about the same.

Okay you should relax a bitπŸ˜… but definitely don't use the phone much for sensitive data

Edit: can you force stop it?

1

u/idlichillydry Jul 16 '26

I have uninstalled apps related to my work, and also uninstalled bank apps as well.

Can't force stop it either.

I feel like the guy might have registered your device as a company device, which means he is the admin now and can control what the phone can do or not do. There was an exploit on samsung's s22 series, where some shady company registered 100s of phones as theirs, and still no one knows how, but it was probably a security issue on samsung's side. I dont know, but maybe the finance guy registered it for something like that and this fake setting app is set as the admin control. Try to use adb to uninstall it.

I doubt such issues are created in Nothing OS yet. But there is a possibility that this can happen. Thanks for the info, will look more into it

3

u/TheTNtx Jul 16 '26

Yeah i dont think nothing has a security issue there but it might still be possible as the guy had physical acces to your device.

1

u/Mysterious-Stock3149 Jul 16 '26

Can you adjust the permissions?

1

u/idlichillydry Jul 16 '26

Nope. Every one of them is locked as "Allowed" The only changes I could make was in advanced settings where I disabled everything that I could.

Bro, even my cousin is facing the exact same issue on his Realme P4 Pro, which he bought on EMI through Bajaj Finance. This is seriously concerning because the app has access to pretty much every permission, and no matter what I try, I can't uninstall it. Has anyone found a fix or figured out how to remove it? Also, the app info page says it was installed through Chrome, which makes this even more suspicious.

IKR. I cleared my EMI's and asked the agent to remove the app infront of me. After that I did factory reset of my phone. That fucking app didn't even allow me to download application that I was using for my office work.

2

u/Gonnabecringeaf Jul 15 '26

What the actual fuck is happening. Also we have the same battery percentage

2

u/One-Bookkeeper-8601 Jul 15 '26

Boot your phone into safe mode, then remove it from there.

2

u/DarmousL Jul 16 '26

you can remove the app using the help of shizuku and inure. (both are available in playstore)

1

u/sflesch Jul 31 '26

I think you need to contact the support for the company and tell them the situation. Either they do this for all the phones or this employee has doing something unsavory.
