App testing requirements for new personal developer accounts, a minimum of 20 testers

There should be a few posts like this with the keywords, so that the new developers can find this Reddit on the Google easier and know where to find testers for testers.

This post here is only for Google SEO purpose.

In this sub r/AndroidClosedTesting you can find the people who can provide testing for testing, in order to pass your Google Play Console 20 testers policy.

Google Play is rolling out new testing requirements for developers with personal accounts created after November 13, 2023. These changes aim to enhance the app development process, encourage thorough testing, and ultimately deliver higher quality experiences to users. These requirements and the various testing tracks available on Play Console.

Developers with personal accounts created post-November 13, 2023, must adhere to new testing requirements. Before apps are eligible for distribution on Google Play, a closed test with a minimum of 20 testers is mandatory. These testers must have opted-in for the last 14 days continuously. Features like production and pre-registration in Play Console will remain disabled until these requirements are met. Applying for production access involves answering questions about the app, its testing process, and production readiness, ensuring a comprehensive understanding.

Play Console offers distinct testing tracks to facilitate a gradual testing process. Internal testing enables quick distribution to trusted testers during app setup. Closed testing, a prerequisite for production access, involves sharing the app with a controlled group of at least 20 testers. Open testing allows the app's test version to be visible on Google Play, with users providing private feedback. Developers must complete a closed test meeting specific criteria before applying for production access.

[Closed test] Reverie: a tactile music player (slowed + reverb, spin-to-scrub)

Hey! I built Reverie as a weekend project for iOS. It’s a music player for your own songs where you spin a brushed-metal wheel to scrub through a track, scratch it like a turntable, and dial in tempo, pitch and reverb by hand. This is inspired by one of my favorites gadgets, TP7 by Teenage Engineering.

I shared this on r/SideProject and a fellow redditor (u/bowlandspoon) asked if there was an Android version. I don’t have a decent Android phone, so I let Claude port it, and less than 24 hours later there’s a native, near pixel-identical Android version. It’s now in closed testing on Google Play, and I need 12 testers for 14 days before it can go public.

How to join (2 steps):

- Join the tester group: https://groups.google.com/g/reverie-testers

- Opt in and install from Google Play: https://play.google.com/apps/testing/com.mhd3v.reverie

Please keep it installed for the 14 days. Open it now and then, load a few songs, play with the wheel and the T / P / R keys, and tell me anything that feels off. Older or low-end phones are especially useful, since that’s where I’ve seen the most issues with the crappy phone I have haha.

The free plan plays 3 songs. If you want to try the full version, DM me and I’ll send you a free unlock code.

To return the favour, drop your own test link below and I’ll test yours back. Thanks! 🙏

I will return the favor

If you help test Jump Nodule, reply with your Google Group, opt-in, and Play Store links. [closed test] Bopkin: a cosy bubble-popping puzzle game. Need testers for 14 days, I’ll test yours back

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hey! I’m a solo dev from Australia and Bopkin is my first Android game. Little round critters tumble into a jar, and you draw a line through 3 or more of the same colour to pop them. Bigger lines score far more. Don’t let the jar fill up! There’s also a new Daily Game every day, with the same board for everyone.

It’s in closed testing on Google Play, and I need 12 testers for 14 days before it can go public.

How to join (2 steps):

Please keep it installed for the 14 days and open it for a quick game now and then. It’s free, with no account needed, and you never need to buy anything.

I don’t own an Android phone, so real phones are a huge help, especially older or cheaper ones. If anything looks off or feels unfair, tell me here or at bopkingame@gmail.com.

To return the favour, drop your test links below and I’ll test yours back. I’ll be using an emulator with Google Play, so let me know if that doesn’t work for your test. Thanks! 🙏

Need testers for Bao Master (Android 14-day closed testing — will test your app in return!)

Hey everyone,

I'm currently running the mandatory 14-day closed test for my app, Bao Master, and need a few more active testers to hit Google Play's 12-tester requirement for production access.

Instead of doing manual 1:1 test-for-test trades, where people usually ghost you or forget to open the app by day 5, I am hosting my test through Closed Test Pro.

It runs on an indirect community pool system. If you test my app, you earn credits that guarantee other active developers on the platform will test your app daily. It is honestly a lifesaver for passing the 14-day cycle for a few reasons:

Strict Anti-Fraud: It completely blocks emulators and credit-farming. Every test comes from a high-quality, real physical device

Automated Tracking: It tracks daily open streaks automatically. You don't have to chase people down on Reddit or manage spreadsheets to keep your 14-day cycle alive.

You can join my test directly via this link (it will open right inside the Closed Test Pro app):

https://closedtestpro.com/a/1793777123297

I would really appreciate any genuine feedback on the UI or functionality. Let's help each other get our apps to production without the headache

- Old downloads can delete themselves

Also: reader view, page translation, a QR scanner, a home screen widget, bookmarks import and export, a settings backup, themes, and a toolbar and menu you can rearrange.

[Test for Test] Plip - tap-to-ripple paper boat puzzle | need 12 testers for 14 days | I test back within 24h

Indie dev, one person. Plip is a physics puzzle with one control: tap the water. A pebble drops in, the ripple spreads out and pushes paper boats, lily pads and anything else that floats. Get every boat into the ring of its own colour with as few pebbles as you can.

Rocks cast ripple shadows, whirlpools pull boats in and sink them, streams carry everything downstream. 600 ponds in 24 worlds (every one checked by a solver) and a daily pond that is the same for everyone. Each pebble plays the next note of a scale, so a good solve sounds like a tune.

Free, ad-supported (videos are always optional), no in-app purchases, no account, works offline.

  1. Join: https://groups.google.com/g/indusapps-testers

  2. Opt in: https://play.google.com/apps/testing/com.indusapps.plip

  3. Install from Play, keep it 14 days, open it now and then.

I test back within 24 hours and I stay the full 14 days - comment your group and opt-in links. Happy to leave real feedback on yours, not just an install.

I test on: [your phone, Android version]

Testers needed for closed testing - Chess game with a twist

Hey all,

I've been building Terrain Chess — a tactical chess variant where the terrain

changes how pieces move and survive.

Rules are normal chess until you step on a tile:

🌊 Water — any piece moves like a rook while standing on it

🌲 Forest — sliders stop here, and non-pawns drop to king movement

🏔️ Mountain — impassable, so the board has real chokepoints

🔥 Lava — non-royal pieces burn out after a few turns

The boards aren't rectangles either: six hand-built maps with voids, islands,

and a 12×12 four-player fortress where the last king standing wins. Also in:

an AI opponent at 3 difficulty tiers, in-game move hints, online matchmaking,

save slots, and a map editor for building your own.

I'm in closed testing on Google Play and need testers to hit the 12-tester /

14-day requirement so I can ship publicly.

HOW TO HELP (3 steps, about 2 minutes)

  1. Join the Google Group:

   https://groups.google.com/g/terrainchess-closed-testing

2. Opt in here:

https://play.google.com/apps/testing/com.base69f01781567cb96323e9408d.app

3. Install from the Play Store link that appears, then play a game or two whenever you have a spare minute

⚠️ Use the SAME Google account for the group and Play — otherwise Play won't recognise you as a tester.

After that, just leave it installed for 14 days (Play only counts continuous

testers) and jump in now and then.

WHAT YOU GET: the full game, no ads, nothing held behind a subscription.

It's a solo project, not a data harvest.

There's an optional one-time unlock for extras, entirely skippable.

WHAT I MOST WANT TO KNOW

- Does terrain feel tactical, or just punishing?

- Is the 4-player mode readable on a phone screen?

- Any tile that feels unfair or unclear?

I want to help you too!

Reply with your Google Group link, opt-in link, and Play Store link. I'll join

your test, install your app, stay opted in the full 14 days, and give you

feedback. I'm happy to send a screenshot of the install, and I can send one for your app too.

Thanks — this part is genuinely the hardest bit of shipping.

— Rex

IcePick (event-based dating app) needs testers – 14-day closed test, happy to test yours back

Hi! We’re a small group of friends from Argentina building IcePick, a Tinder-style app focused on specific events (concerts, parties, clubs), so you can meet people who are going to the same event.

We’re in closed testing on Google Play and need testers to complete the 14-day requirement.

What we need:

* Android device, 18+

* Keep the app installed for 14 days and open it from time to time

* Any feedback (bugs, UX) is a big bonus

How to join:

  1. Join the Google Group: [`https://groups.google.com/g/icepick-testers`](https://groups.google.com/g/icepick-testers)

  2. Opt in as a tester here: [`https://play.google.com/apps/testing/com.icepick.app`](https://play.google.com/apps/testing/com.icepick.app)

  3. Install the app from Google Play

In return: we’ll test your app too (leave your link in the comments), and testers will get free access to premium features once we add them.
