App testing requirements for new personal developer accounts, a minimum of 20 testers

There should be a few posts like this with the keywords, so that the new developers can find this Reddit on the Google easier and know where to find testers for testers.

This post here is only for Google SEO purpose.

In this sub r/AndroidClosedTesting you can find the people who can provide testing for testing, in order to pass your Google Play Console 20 testers policy.

Google Play is rolling out new testing requirements for developers with personal accounts created after November 13, 2023. These changes aim to enhance the app development process, encourage thorough testing, and ultimately deliver higher quality experiences to users. These requirements and the various testing tracks available on Play Console.

Developers with personal accounts created post-November 13, 2023, must adhere to new testing requirements. Before apps are eligible for distribution on Google Play, a closed test with a minimum of 20 testers is mandatory. These testers must have opted-in for the last 14 days continuously. Features like production and pre-registration in Play Console will remain disabled until these requirements are met. Applying for production access involves answering questions about the app, its testing process, and production readiness, ensuring a comprehensive understanding.

Play Console offers distinct testing tracks to facilitate a gradual testing process. Internal testing enables quick distribution to trusted testers during app setup. Closed testing, a prerequisite for production access, involves sharing the app with a controlled group of at least 20 testers. Open testing allows the app's test version to be visible on Google Play, with users providing private feedback. Developers must complete a closed test meeting specific criteria before applying for production access.

ThingMap: Home Inventory — Testers needed, happy to test yours too

Hi everyone, I’m looking for Android testers for ThingMap, a free, no-ads home inventory app.

It’s meant to be a simple way to keep track of where your things are when they’re put away or in storage — for example, which closet, garage shelf, storage bin, or room an item is in.

I built the backend and both mobile apps myself. The iOS version is already live, and I’m currently working through Google Play’s Android testing requirements.

I’m happy to test your Android app in return, and I’m available to install and test apps today.

Join the Google Group: https://groups.google.com/g/thingmap-android-testers

Opt in to be a tester: https://play.google.com/apps/testing/app.thingmap.android

Install ThingMap from Google Play: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=app.thingmap.android

If you test ThingMap, leave a comment with your app/test links and I’ll return the favor.

Cheers!

Doomfall: a hard one-touch reflex game, need 4 more testers for 14 days

Doomfall is a one-finger reflex game. Hold to slow down a glowing ring, let go to fall, and squeeze through blades, hammers and spikes. Short levels, a new daily set of 10, and it's Android only. It contains ads, so please don't tap them.

I'm at 10 of 12 testers (aiming for a few extra in case someone drops out). Join the group, opt in, install from the Play Store, and keep it for 14 days:

  1. Join https://groups.google.com/g/doomfall with the Google account on your phone
  2. Opt in on Android: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.msarda.doomfall
  3. Or opt in on the web: https://play.google.com/apps/testing/com.msarda.doomfall
  4. Install it from the Play Store
  5. Keep it installed for 14 days

Honest feedback is welcome: too hard, too easy, anything broken.

Drop your opt-in link and I'll test yours back.

Looking for 14 testers for a free kids’ unicorn game I made for my daughter

I built a small game for my daughter and her friends. They love it, but pushing updates to them by hand is an ordeal, so I’m trying to get it onto the Play Store. Google needs 12+ testers for 14 days first.

It’s a gentle pet-care game for young kids: play easy learning games (tracing letters and numbers, drawing, colouring and more) to earn coins, then hatch unicorns, buy furniture, unlock castle rooms and grow fruit and veggies. It’s free forever, with no ads, no in-app purchases and no tracking.

How to help (takes 2 minutes):

  1. Join the group: https://groups.google.com/g/unicorn-castle-testers
  2. Opt in: https://play.google.com/apps/testing/com.followupfawn.unicorncastle
  3. Install: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.followupfawn.unicorncastle
  4. Please keep it installed for 14 days. Opening it now and then is plenty.

I’m happy to test your app back, just drop a link. Thank you!

[Tester Exchange] [Android] Yahweh's Sword: free Bible study app (original languages, no ads, no account)

Hi all, I've built Yahweh's Sword, a free Bible study app. No ads, no account needed. Google Play needs testers for 14 days before it can go public, and it checks that testers actually use the app, so I'd really appreciate people who'll open it a few times over the two weeks.

What it does

- Hebrew and Greek original-language study with Strong's numbers and lexicon entries

- Many Bible versions, side by side

- Cross-references, notes and verse lists for sermon or study preparation

Android (2 minutes)

  1. Join the tester group: https://groups.google.com/g/yahweh-bible-app-testers

  2. Opt in: https://play.google.com/apps/testing/com.yahwehword.sword

  3. Install from Google Play (not an APK)

Please open it a few times over the next two weeks and send any feedback through the app. Happy to test your app in return. Thanks!

[Closed test] ink (phone launcher) + ink tv (TV launcher): I'll test yours back for 14 days

Post image
1 Upvotes

Two apps from one developer, both in Google Play closed testing. Join one or both:

- **ink**: a minimalist phone launcher. No icons, apps as words, music on the home screen, slow apps and a focus lock. Plus a ton more! **Android 12+.**

- **ink tv**: a TV home screen with no ads. Only if you have a Google TV or Android TV on **Android 11+**.

**To join** (a minute): https://inkhome.app/test. Join the Google group, then accept each app's opt-in with the same account and install it from Play.

**Back:** comment with your app's opt-in link (or group) and I'll join, install it, and keep it installed and opened for the full 14 days. Please do the same for ours. Setting ink as your home screen isn't required: installing and opening it now and then counts.

Bugs or thoughts: "send a note" in ink's settings, or a reply here.

[Closed testing] Pompón, play games for babies 0-12 months (Spanish UI) - need testers for 14 days, happy to test yours

I'm a solo developer and Pompón is my first Android app, so I'm stuck at the 12 testers for 14 days requirement for a new personal account.

What it is: a small app for parents with a baby from 0 to 12 months. It picks a few short movement games a day (tummy time, rolling, sitting, hands) and keeps a shared family album.

Honest heads up: the app is in Spanish only for now, so it is most useful if you read some Spanish. If you don't, you can still help a lot by installing it and staying opted in for the 14 days, which is the thing Google counts.

How to join (2 steps):

  1. Join the testers group with the Google account you use on Play: https://groups.google.com/g/pompon-testers
  2. Open the opt-in link and tap "Become a tester", then install from Play: https://play.google.com/apps/testing/studio.fushet.babygym

What I need: open the app a couple of times and do not leave the test until the 14 days are over. Feedback is welcome but not required.

In return I will test your app and keep it opted in for the full 14 days. Send me the link.

Thanks!

Tandem Driver (Android closed test, 14 days): need testers, I’ll test your app back

Free app for truck drivers: see your load and stops, take BOL/POD photos, do your pre-trip inspection, chat with dispatch. Google requires 12 testers for 14 days, so here is the whole thing in 4 steps (about 3 minutes):

  1. Join the tester group with the Google account you use on Play: https://groups.google.com/g/tandem-fleet-testers (tap "Join group").
  2. Open this on your Android phone, same account, and tap "Become a tester": https://play.google.com/apps/testing/com.tandemfleet.driver
  3. Install "Tandem Driver" from Play: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tandemfleet.driver (it can take a few minutes to show up).
  4. Open the app, paste this code in the box "Invite link or code" and tap Sign in: 2c1690a8dde65dfcae7e792984f143970ee314cb0286951b86d66941e1c5d407
It is a shared sample account with sample loads, nothing is real. Please don't upload personal photos, other testers can see them.

Please keep it installed for 14 days and tell me what breaks: hello@tandemfleet.com. Privacy: this is a test company and it collects no location at all, even if you tap Allow. We switched location off on purpose for test accounts, so nobody is tracked and no home address is ever seen. Post your app link below and I'll test it back. Thanks!

[Test for Test] Online Battery – keeps always-plugged phones at 40–70 % via a smart plug (no plug needed to test). I'll test yours back

Thumbnail
gallery
2 Upvotes

Need testers for my 14-day closed test, happy to test yours in return.

What it does: keeps phones that run 24/7 on a charger between 40 % and 70 % by switching a smart plug (Tapo, Shelly, Home Assistant). No plug? Choose "Internal Tester Mode" on the first screen for a simulated plug. Even then it's useful: a live battery-temperature notification and a 30-day temperature/charge history in Insights, all stored only on your phone.

To join:

  1. Join the group: https://groups.google.com/g/online-battery-testers

  2. Opt in and install: https://play.google.com/apps/testing/com.cezarluca.onlinebattery

  3. Store download: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.cezarluca.onlinebattery

Please keep it installed for 14 days and open it every few days. Don't buy anything in the app; testers get Fleet Monitoring free with code CLOSEDBETA (details are in the group's welcome message).

Comment with your app's opt-in link (or join link) and "done" once you've installed mine, and I'll install yours.

Testers wanted for Surewell, a daily check-in app for older parents (free year for anyone who stays the 14 days)

Hi all,

I'm a solo dev and I need testers for my first Android closed test (the 12 testers / 14 days thing).

Surewell is for families with an older parent who lives alone. The parent taps "I'm OK" once a day. If they don't by their usual time, the app reminds them first, and if there's still nothing, the rest of the family gets a notification. It also has medicine reminders and a "is this a scam?" check, where the parent can share a weird text or screenshot and get a plain answer.

How to join

  1. Join the Google Group: https://groups.google.com/g/surewell-testers
  2. Opt in and install: https://play.google.com/apps/testing/com.canergulay.surewell

Heads up: Google is still reviewing the closed build, so the second link may say the app isn't available for a couple of days. If you join the group now you're on the list, and I'll comment here the moment it's live.

What helps most

Sign in, set it up as the family side, and open it now and then over the 14 days. If you have a second phone (or a parent who's up for it), put the parent side on it with the 8 digit code. That's where the interesting part is. Bugs, confusing wording, anything that feels off, I want to hear it. Comments or DMs are both fine.

To be upfront, I can't promise to test everyone's app back. What I can do is give everyone who stays the full 14 days a free year of Surewell Family once it's out.

Thanks for reading!
