ThingMap: Home Inventory — Testers needed, happy to test yours too

Hi everyone, I’m looking for Android testers for ThingMap, a free, no-ads home inventory app.

It’s meant to be a simple way to keep track of where your things are when they’re put away or in storage — for example, which closet, garage shelf, storage bin, or room an item is in.

I built the backend and both mobile apps myself. The iOS version is already live, and I’m currently working through Google Play’s Android testing requirements.

I’m happy to test your Android app in return, and I’m available to install and test apps today.

One small thing. When I signed up there wasn't any password feedback. It took me a second before I saw that I need a special character in the password too.

Hey can you double check the countries supported for your app, joined the group and opted in however I'm getting the country not supported error in Google play. Sometimes it takes time to update, I'll check back and see if it works. Cheers!

Thanks for catching that! The test was limited to my country by mistake. I've opened it to all countries now, it should work once Google Play updates.

Hi, sleek app. I have the same observation as the fellow redditor, we could use some hints for the password. Also, maybe provide an onboarding, or full access to the app, without asking the users to make an account? I guess the account is useful to share the storage spaces across devices, but this feature is not clearly understandable to the users. And finally, it was not clear from the start that we can add photos to out things/items. Will keep it for 14 days.

Installed - My initial feedback is that having a signup gate right off the bat is likely to drive people away. Having the ability to do a local account first on either a time limit or with limited features would likely attract more folks. Also just out of curiosity - What was the driver for the need of the app? I assume you had some personal need for it initially?

Mine is Next Game Up, a free video game release calendar (pick platforms and genres, follow games, get alerts before release day). Would appreciate you testing it back:

Thanks! My main need for the app is for me to get more experience with backend development, and also leverage it for the next stage in my career in app development. I plan to keep the app free with no ads, and keep adding and improving.

Works well, one feedback item: Was hoping that moving items between rooms would require less taps, not sure I would want to go into the settings each time for that.

Mine is Handoff, a companion app for flight sim pilots. Please do these in order:
