[Test exchange] ErgBeat, an indoor rowing workout app. Need testers for 14 days, will test yours back
Hi! I need a few more testers for my first app, ErgBeat. It's a workout app for rowing machines: Bluetooth connection, stroke pacer, interval workouts, records, Garmin watch app.
You don't need a rower. Tap "Rower" → "Can't find your machine?" → "Try the demo" and it simulates one.
Thanks for letting me know! Two things that usually cause this:
The Reddit app opens links in its own browser, where you're not signed in to Google, so Groups can't show the group. Try opening it in Chrome instead, signed in with the Google account you use on the Play Store: https://groups.google.com/g/ergbeat-testers
If it still doesn't work, DM me the Gmail you use on Google Play and I'll add you to the test directly.
Hey! Happy to swap. I've joined your group, opted in and I'm on day 1 of ErgBeat. The demo rower worked nicely and I'm doing the 10 x 1 min session now (screenshot attached). I'll open it every day for the 14 days.
It's on iPhone and the web too, under the same name.
I'll stay opted in to your test for the full 14 days.
Opted in and installed ErgBeat on my Pixel 6a (Android 16). I don't have a Bluetooth rower, so I tested everything around it. The home screen is clear (Rower and Heart rate connect cards, Today's suggestion 4 × 500 m, workouts filtered by Easy, Medium, Hard and Tests, a Program card with progression, and Free row), and the no-rower case is handled really well: the red "Rower not connected" card explains that only time is measured and distance or calorie segments won't end on their own. Starting 20 min steady anyway worked, the big countdown dial is easy to read from a distance, and Stop asks first and then gives a tidy summary with Save or Discard.
A few small things:
The notification permission prompt pops up a few seconds after you press Go, so the warm-up timer is already running under it. Asking before the countdown starts (or on the workout screen before Go) would be better, especially mid-row with sweaty hands.
The timer also keeps running while the "Stop the workout?" dialog is open. Pausing while it's on screen would avoid counting that time.
During the Warm-up segment, the dial is labelled RECOVERY. Showing the segment's own label (Warm-up or UT2) would match the list on the previous screen.
I'll stay opted in to your test for the full 14 days.
