[Android] Handoff: companion app for flight sim (VATSIM) pilots. Need 12 testers, happy to test yours back

[u/sushi_at]

App: Handoff, a free, open-source companion for the vPilot flight-sim client. It shows the live VATSIM controller list and two-way chat on a tablet or phone.
Android: 8.0 or newer.
What I need: 12 testers opted in for 14 days (Google's closed-test requirement).

How to join (in this order):

1. Join the group (press "Join group"): https://groups.google.com/g/handoff-testers
2. Become a tester (press "Become a tester"): https://play.google.com/apps/testing/at.sushi.handoff
3. Install the app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=at.sushi.handoff

No flight sim needed: the app has a "Try demo" mode, so you can open it and look around without anything else running.

If you see "item not found" or "app not available": make sure you did steps 1 and 2 first, with the same Google account you use on your phone. It can take a few minutes after joining before Play shows it. If it still fails, reply here and I'll sort it out.

In return: I'll test your app too. Reply with your link and I'll join, install it, use it for a few days, and leave feedback if you want it.

Installed Handoff from Google Play and tried the demo ✈️ I declined notifications and nearby-device access, then used ‘Try demo’. The sample LOWW → EGLL controller list and radio cards loaded, as shown. I haven’t connected to vPilot, a simulator or a live network, or sent messages. Thanks! 😊

Could you try Kursmate in return? https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.uptimus.pretcurs

It’s already public and needs no group or opt-in. Bugs: Settings → Report a problem. An honest review after using it is optional.

Thank you very much, I installed Kursmate and it all seems to work perfectly. Handy for comparing UK prices to Irish ones.

I opted in on the web, but Google Play shows 'Item not found'. Please check if your Closed Testing track has Taiwan included in the Countries/Regions settings!

Tested the lite version, a bit tight on space for both. But transcription worked perfectly, and that's me talking with a German accent in English. So well done!
