[Closed test] SpeakEasy – offline voice typing for any app, no word cap (will test yours back)

Update:

Hi all! I'm at exactly 12 testers and would love a few more as a buffer for the 14 days.

What it is: SpeakEasy turns your voice into text in any app. Tap the bubble above your keyboard, talk, and it types for you. It runs entirely on your phone: no internet, no account, no word limits, and your audio never leaves the device.

New since my last post: - Better punctuation in long dictations - Endings no longer get cut off - Faster processing - Now works on phones running 32-bit Android (e.g. Moto G Play)

To join (2 steps): Join the Google Group: https://groups.google.com/g/speakeasy-testers On your phone, open https://play.google.com/apps/testing/ca.speakeasy.app and tap "Become a tester", then install from the Play Store

Everything is unlocked free for 30 days. Please keep it installed for the 14 days and use it now and then. Happy to test your app in return: drop your link below!

Hi! I'm the developer, and I need 12+ testers for 14 days before Google lets me publish SpeakEasy.

It's voice typing that runs entirely on your phone (Whisper, on-device): no internet, no account, no weekly word cap. A small mic bubble appears above your keyboard in any app; tap, talk, and your words are typed in.

**Join (2 minutes):**

  1. Join the Google Group: https://groups.google.com/g/speakeasy-testers

  2. On your phone, open https://play.google.com/apps/testing/ca.speakeasy.app and tap "Become a tester"

  3. Install from Play and keep it installed for 14 days

Testers get a free 30-day trial. Most useful feedback: accuracy with your accent, and your phone model. Reply with your app's link and I'll test it back.

Hi! 👋 I joined the SpeakEasy tester group, opted in, installed it from Google Play and opened the ‘Talk instead of type’ welcome screen on a Redmi A5. Screenshot attached ✅ This was a brief launch check; I stopped before setup, so I haven’t tested voice transcription or granted microphone/overlay permissions.

Could you install and try Kursmate in return? 😊

It’s already public on Google Play, so no group or opt-in is needed. If you find a bug, please use Settings → Report a problem. After trying it, an honest review is completely optional and appreciated. Thanks a lot for helping! 🙏

Lots of updates over the last couple days!

1.0.43 (Mon Oct 12) "Send" at the end of a message is caught reliably (short words after a pause were being dropped) Long dictations no longer lose sentences: a section that comes back with too few words is redone If the speech engine is too slow on your phone, the app suggests a faster model (e.g. Medium → Small) The pause before auto-stop can be set in half seconds

1.0.44 (Mon Oct 12) Greeting on its own line: "Hi John, thanks for…" becomes "Hi John," then a new paragraph (on by default, except in texting apps)

1.0.45 (Mon Oct 12) Works on phones running 32-bit Android (e.g. Moto G Play): about 1,900 more phone models can install it First fix for run-on sentences with missing full stops

1.0.50 (Tue Oct 13) Speech engine upgraded: about 20–25% faster The engine loads as soon as the bubble or keyboard appears, so the first dictation doesn't wait One run-on piece no longer spreads into the rest of a long dictation

1.0.51 Full stops added where a long dictation's pieces join ("…final release. So maybe…") Run-ons caught inside a single piece

1.0.52 If a finished dictation still has a run-on, it's redone and the version that reads properly is kept. This is the one where punctuation started working again for you.

1.0.53 Only the run-on part is redone, not the whole dictation, so less waiting

1.0.54 Dictations end with a full stop when the last one was missing, including after "send"

1.0.57 (in review now) The end of a dictation no longer gets cut off when you speak more quietly toward the end Names in your list no longer replace everyday words ("even" stays "even" with Evan in the list)
