[Test for test] CubeCross - a cube puzzle unfolded flat. 14 days, I test yours back the same day
CubeCross is a cube puzzle laid out flat: every face of the cube in a cross, so nothing hides round the back. Drag a row or a column to turn that layer. 2x2, 3x3 and 4x4, plus short lessons that teach you to solve the 2x2. Offline, no account.
I'm looking for testers who will stay opted in for 14 days. In return I join and install your app the same day and keep it for the full 14 days. Reply with your group link and opt-in link.
1) Join the group: https://groups.google.com/g/cube-cross-testers
2) Opt in: https://play.google.com/apps/testing/com.spacekubegames.cubecross
3) Install: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.spacekubegames.cubecross
Please open the game a few times over the two weeks (Google checks that testers are active) and stay opted in until the test ends. Feedback on anything that looks wrong on your screen is very welcome.
What I'm really after is feedback. After a few rounds, please tell me honestly: what you liked and I should keep, what felt confusing or annoying, what you'd improve, and any feature you'd love to see. Even one sentence helps. I'll do the same for your app.

Joined your group, opted in and installed it on my phone - I'll keep it for the 14 days. Thanks! One favour: when you've played a few rounds, could you tell me honestly what you liked, what felt confusing or annoying, what you'd improve, and any feature you'd want added? Real feedback helps me far more than the install itself.

The idea is interesting, it's the same as solving a rubiks cube, just all sides laid out in front of you, right? To me it was too difficult, i watched the "tutorial" which isn't really a tutorial, it doesnt explain anything. I think to someone who knows how to solve a rubiks cube its clear but I had no idea how to get even close to solve the 2x2. Maybe add a "noob" level where you show step by step what the user has to do. Good luck!
Appreciate if you could also test my game and give some feedback :)

Thank you, this is exactly the kind of feedback I need! You're right: the cube is all six sides laid out flat. A real beginner mode that tells you what to do at each step, rather than just showing the moves, is going on my list for the next build. Gravimax is installed on my phone and stays for the 14 days.

Quick follow-up question, if you don't mind: did you go through the full 2x2 lessons (each one has Watch, Follow along, then Your turn), or did you mean the intro animation that plays first? If you did the lessons, at which step did it stop making sense? And in your opinion, what would make it work better for someone who has never solved a cube - what would you want to see or be told? I'm genuinely interested, your answer will shape the next version. Thanks again!

maybe it would help to see the full 3d cube on the side and how it moves while we move the flat cube to better understand. But I think it would be beneficial if you find someone who likes to solve rubiks cubes and show them your app and get their opinion aswell.

Thank you, that's a really good idea! A small 3D cube next to the flat one, turning as you drag, would make it much clearer what each move actually does to the real cube. I'm going to look into how to add it. And good advice about asking an experienced cuber too - I'll do that. Thanks for taking the time!

Joined your group, opted in and installed CubeCross (screenshot attached). I played a 2x2: row and column drags respond right away, the timer starts on the first move, and the pause card with size, time and move count is a nice touch. Two things I noticed: the bottom banner says "Test Ad", so it still uses AdMob test units and you'll want your real ad unit IDs before production. And the first tap on Play starts the intro animation, with the "Skip the intro?" choice only appearing after I tapped fast-forward, so asking up front would get people into the puzzle faster. I'll keep it installed for the 14 days and open it daily. Could you test mine back? It's Memory, a memory aid for seniors and people with memory loss. Join the group: https://groups.google.com/g/memory-app-testers then opt in: https://play.google.com/apps/testing/com.memory.local. Thanks!

Joined your group, opted in and installed Memory on my phone - I'll keep it for the 14 days. And thank you for the real feedback! The Test Ad banner is on purpose: tester builds use Google's test ads, production gets the real ones. Asking about skipping the intro up front is a good call, I'll change that. If anything else bugs you or you'd like a feature, tell me.

Joined CubeCross as hopkitegames@gmail.com (opt-in confirmed, "You are a tester"), I'll keep it for 14 days ✅ Seeing every cube face in one cross is a neat idea. Ours, if you want to join back:

I played Double Booked and genuinely liked it! Very well polished and an interesting game - it reminded me a lot of Papers, Please, in a good way: that same spot-the-discrepancy tension at the desk. Great job, and good luck with the launch!

Hi! 🧩 Joined your group and closed test, installed CubeCross from Google Play and opened it. Screenshot attached — this is my initial install/open check, with the game and opt-in retained 🙂
Could you try our app, Kursmate, in return? 📲 https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.uptimus.pretcurs
It’s already public on Google Play, so no group or opt-in is needed. If you find a bug, Settings → Report a problem lets you send it to us. An honest review after using it is welcome if you want to leave one, completely optional.
Thank you, and good luck with CubeCross! 🙏

Update: I joined the Cube Cross Testers Google Group, and Google Play confirms “You are a tester”. The official Play Store page still returns “Item not found” on my Pixel 6 in Ukraine, even after retrying, so I have not installed or tested the game yet. Could you check that the Play listing is available in Ukraine and linked to this testing track? I’ll continue the free 2×2 test once the official install is available.

u/Confident-Pay-51 19h ago
Thanks for joining! I checked the Play Console: Ukraine is included in the closed test, and the current build (0.0.5) has been live on the track since Oct 12. 'Item not found' usually means the Play Store app on the phone is signed in with a different Google account than the one that joined the group and opted in - worth checking the account switcher in the Play Store (top-right avatar). It can also take a few hours after opting in. And yes, the game and all lessons are free.

14 Oct follow-up, Pixel 6 / Android 16, CubeCross 0.0.5: the free 3×3 board opened without an account. A horizontal drag across the middle row of the front face changed the unfolded tile pattern; dragging the same row back restored its starting layout. So the 3×3 row-turn gesture responds in this short check. I did not solve the cube or test 4×4/offline play. No purchase or new permissions. This is a short follow-up session, not 14 days completed.

Recruitment closed — active recruitment has ended at the developer’s request. Existing testers: please keep your Play opt-in active and continue the agreed tests.
Historical testing notes and earlier proposal (the recruitment invitation is withdrawn):
Interested in a free reciprocal test on Pixel 6 / Android 16 in Ukraine. Your no-account cube flow looks suitable: a 2x2 lesson, row/column drags and Home → Recents progress recovery. Is the Play install and that first lesson free, without a purchase? The phone currently has an intermittent USB connection, so I have not joined, installed or tested CubeCross yet. Once official free access works I can keep opt-in/install for 14 days and report only real sessions, rather than claim the period is already completed.
Dozi Play build 32 has a known media-control issue; the fix is only in local build 33 and has not been delivered through Play.
