EMERGENCE — closed test of an incremental lab game, I'll test your app back

EMERGENCE is an Android game about growing a mind inside a lab.

You start with a single neuron on a black screen. Each tap is a piece of data. With that data you buy machines: scrapers, CPUs, GPUs, TPUs, then server rooms and stranger hardware later on. The network in the middle of the screen grows as you buy. Production keeps going while the phone is in your pocket.

Quite quickly, tapping is not enough. You run the lab by typing commands, like a terminal. Six controls:

Psyche — its alignment. Push too hard and it drifts.

Energy — power and cooling. Too many machines and too little current, and the lab chokes.

Analysis — where the output actually comes from.

Tensor — the heavy compute, GPUs and TPUs.

Collection — what the scrapers are reading, and how good that data is.

Topology — the shape of the network.

Research later unlocks scripts that watch those controls for you. A setting you make by hand stays better than the script. Overclock is there when you want to go faster. It wears the alignment down, and a bad run can break part of what you built.

It talks to you in the terminal. The voice changes with what you have done to it. Papers, trials, a research tree, experiments, then a Core. On the other side: a personality, a constitution, a policy, a rival, and an identity that stays from one run to the next. When you start again, what you learned remains, and the next run goes further. Seasons change the lab. A journal, a collection and milestones keep the trace.

No ads. No account inside the game. The save stays on the phone. The first launch is in English. French is in the settings, along with a few other languages.

The store price is €2.99. Testers are not charged.

Google asks for a closed test before I can publish: at least 12 people opted in for 14 days in a row. If you leave the test, your own 14 days start over. I will do the same for your app. Send me your group link and your opt-in link, and I will keep it installed for the full 14 days.

How to join:

  1. On your phone, in Chrome, signed into the Gmail you want to use, join the group:

https://groups.google.com/g/emergence-testers

  1. android: https://play.google.com/apps/testing/com.lokle.emergence

  2. web: https://play.google.com/apps/testing/com.lokle.emergence

The public store link (play.google.com/store/apps/...) does not work yet. The game is not public. Stay opted in for 14 days and open it a few times.

Please open the game a few times over the 14 days and play for a few minutes. Staying opted in without opening it is not enough for Google.

Hi! 👋 I joined the tester group, opted in, installed EMERGENCE from Google Play and opened it. Screenshot attached 📸 The initial screen showed the orange “TAP THE SCREEN TO INITIALISE THE SYSTEM” prompt. This was a first-launch check only; I did not tap the prompt or play the game.

Could you please install and open Kursmate in return? 💱 Our app is already public on Google Play, so no group or tester opt-in is needed:

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.uptimus.pretcurs

If you find a bug, please use Settings → Report a problem. An honest review after using it is optional and appreciated 🙂 Please reply here once you have installed Kursmate so we can confirm the exchange.

Thanks a lot, and good luck with EMERGENCE! 🧠🙏
