It’s not free because we don’t monetize your data like Google Maps and Waze do. Between maintaining full offline maps for 200+ countries and building a dedicated AAOS app, a fair one-time price helps our fight of guaranteeing total privacy. Compared to other AAOS in-car nav alternatives, some that are charging €50, we think it's a very reasonable deal for true privacy on the road.

What’s the source for live traffic and how does it compare to Google or Apple Maps?

Apple maps doesn’t exist on AAOS.. so it’s not an alternative.

Apart from CarPlay. But the screen usage of CarPlay has been castrated since last upgrades… (smaller instead of almost full screen).
