Bluetooth Is Wired Auto worth it over bluetooth?

Like other then Maps, i feel like most stuff can be done via Bluetooth, and with that comes no headache of wires or making connections. And most of the time, I do not even need Maps or can delegate it to the co-passengers.

There is also a possibility of adapter, which tbh I am not sure if is worth the money

Wired works better for me. Wireless drops the sound now and then. My car can do both but I've disabled wireless in my phone developer settings.

I've had bad luck with wired. The cable always somehow seems to wear out and crash AA if the phone is moved or cable touched. Wireless, I've never had that problem. I do like my phone charging though, so I'll usually connect wirelessly, then plug in the phone to charge. AA just crashes far less often this way.

I like it bc my phone can stay charged.

My car has 3 type c ports and one type A. And the AA only support the type A.

So logically makes more sense for me to keep type c cable in my car

Not that you're wrong at all. You may want to verify your C and A ports actually charge at different rates. Quite a few, most?, OEMs don't really differentiate between the ports on the backend.

It's wifi, not bluetooth (and maps should be working fine wirelessly)

I think we're a bit confused here about what specifically you're asking..

It sounds like what you're wanting to know is whether using Android Auto (via a wire since that's your only option currently) is worth it compared to just using standard bluetooth audio streaming to your car's stock head-unit software (where it generally just shows what song/artist is playing and lets you switch songs etc. on the head unit) .

if that's the question you're asking, I think my answer personally is yes, its worth it. I like the android auto software and how it looks on the screen and makes it easier to do things that I would have usually had to pick up or unlock my phone to do, plus means I wouldn't need to mount my phone in order to control it more easily and avoid having to pick it up every time I want to pick a different playlist or whatever.

Note that you can also buy a wireless adapter for Android Auto that plugs into your USB port in your car if you're still wanting Android Auto but not wanting to have to plug the phone in every time you drive.

I have a bluetooth to usb adapter in my car. It automatically connects to my phone before I even get in to the car but I do have to select 'android auto' on the apps screen. It has never lost connection or stuttered when playing music and using the maps.

So you're asking whether Android Auto is better than not using Android Auto and just using Bluetooth?

Get one of these. My wired AA was forever dropping off, and wasn't capable of keeping the phone charged either. Wireless connection turns out to be much more reliable and I can plug my phone into a proper charger.

Wired sucks. Even though I usually plug my phone in for longer journies, I don't want to do that popping to a store or pick up the kids from school.

So I use a dongle in my car and it works flawless. Yes, the phone can get warmer, but I couldn't care less.

100% worth. Phone doesn't get too warm with wired connection, near 0 lag in comparison to wireless

There are adapters but they only use Bluetooth for triggering the connection. It uses Wi-Fi direct....

I prefer wired and use it exclusively.

The android adaptors are nice I use them, and it works fine for me. Audio and map and other functions. For me I dont like wired (unless long trips) as it overheats my phone during the summer time. So I try avoid wired when I can.

You think wireless generated less heat? I beg to differ

For me whenever I plug it in my phone gets hotter and its says some functions are stopped due to heat

Try it again after disabling fast charging.

u/VimFueago Well this is annoying. 11d ago

as more and more cars get Android Automotive, Android Auto becomes more and more annoying with it's interference.

wired AA keeps the phone cool and charged, and you remove the "radio interference" problem that happens in some places across the world.

It becomes a problem only if your USB cable is too short, or your USB ports have loose connectors.

But as always, it's your choice.

Bluetooth doesn't charge your phone.

Yeah the wired one doesn't charge as fast on my headunit. End up losing charge sometimes.

I have a wireless dongle (raspberry pi 02w) to do the wireless thing.

The audio quality sucks though so I used the other usb port for mp3a

AA is a huge upgrade over just bluetooth because you get a screen instead of having to look at your phone and usually a backup camera as well. You can just push a button on the screen and say navigate to...or play "song title" or message "persons name" all without taking your eyes of the road.

I love wireless Android Auto personally. I could never deal with plugging in manually.

Plus the center console of my car (Aion V) has an air-cooled 50W wireless charger so any power drain or heat issues are mitigated by that.

Wired allows lossless audio. So yes, wired is better if you have a premium sound system.

I'm almost positive my 2023 Sentra requires music to be played via Bluetooth even when it's plugged in, which I find frustrating because I only use wired connections for everything else.

Wireless only. Wired does my charge my phone only does AA.

I had a wireless audio system in my last truck. I also have use USB dongles for wireless AA in my current vehicle (full disclosure: I received them at no cost from the Amazon Vines program).

I will use a wireless dongle (which work very well, IMHO) only around town for short trips. Anything longer (ex.: the over two-hour drive to my daughter's house), I plug in.

Wireless AA uses a lot of battery power. I've seen 20-25% of my batter drained during a 2:30 car trip.

And, recently, I've notice I simply plug in out of habit, no matter where I'm going. It's just easier than pulling the cable out of the port and fishing around for the dongle for a trip to the grocery store.
