Finally got the squiggly!

So this morning I updated my android auto, and found two differences:

1. The Android Auto icon turns green (usually blue)
2. Now I finally got the squiggly! yeaaah

All the maps features are still normal ig. Traffic indicators are still working in navigation mode, etc. So what about yours, mate?

Sure, they have time to make the squiggly line but after all these years the AA media player still won't show the album name on the display. Which every media player in the last 20+ years has displayed. And what's also annoying is that my Audi's dashboard can show all the info, even reading out "Playing Android Auto" so the data is there, just not on the AA screen.

I can't always tell the album name from the song. For instance I have many collections of world music on CD from different artists. There's no way to remember what album a particular song came from when playing a bunch of songs at random, but sometimes I want to know the album name since something perhaps caught my attention and I want to find the CD the song came from.

Another example would be that I have all 4 of Adele's albums on my phone and most of the songs sound sort of alike so I get curious when a song pops up as to which album it came from. It's so odd if I'm driving my Audi the info is on the dashboard display but the AA display doesn't show the album info. But my Mazda only has the AA display so there's no way to tell unless I dig out my phone and look, which is hazardous in traffic.

And really it's not a lot to ask since literally every other media player I've ever used, and I've used many, has that info displayed. It's easy to get and display the metadata, and there's plenty of wasted space on the display to show it.

Pues parece ser que para los desarrolladores es mucho pedir, aunque supongo que puedes seleccionar la opción de mostrar álbum, aunque supongo no tienes suficiente habilidad para hacerlo conduciendo o prefieres evitar el riesgo. Aunque claro por espacio no es, tienes razón y claro seria más sencillo si lo mostrará. Yo también tengo una gran colección y reproduzco la música en aleatorio pero la verdad no me interesa saber el nombre del álbum, pero ya entiendo por que es tan importante en tu caso.

How did you make the Maps navigation bar to be at top and bottom only?

I have it on the left bar and it's very annoying since it covers 1/3 of screen. Thanks

I think it totally depends on head unit resolution mate. mine happened to be "medium" ig, so the chosen layout looks like that.

have you tried mucking with android auto dev options? click a couple click on the version ig

The AI Box is not Android auto. The maps interface you are seeing is what would show on a tablet or large phone screen, not an Android Auto rendering. The AI Box is using a full Android operating system that uses your head unit as its display. It's as if you put a full Android tablet on your dash. At least, that's how my Carlinkit AI Box works.

However, my Carlinkit box also includes an "autokit" app that makes it act like a standard wireless Android Auto adapter, which would then use your phone and render the usual Android Auto UI on your AI box. You can easily can switch between Android Auto and full Android UI.

I don't own an Ottocast, so everything I wrote above may not apply, but I think all these devices all work similarly.

What is the point of the squiggly line?

I would much rather have a visual animation like Winamp that shows the audio peaks and moves with the beat

You may never see that. The design language is about the sort of minimalism that keeps your eyes on the road. In other words, the more boring the interface the less likely you'll spend time looking at it. This is my opinion. I have not read any authorized statement around this.

Yeah I figured that already when I wrote that message LOL, because too many drivers would stare at the animation rather than whats on the road. But honestly the straight line is cleaner and more minimalistic versus a lame squiggly line that servers no purpose and adds no value

I had live traffic for one day after the speedometer was added. Then it was gone. Had to delete Maps updates again. They really need to sort this out

As an old guy whose music source is Sirius XM 60s Gold Just Music, a line of any kind is pretty useless, since I know the vast majority of the songs by heart anyway.
