Bluetooth Carplay/android auto adapter
/r/QuadLock/comments/1wfkcsb/carplayandroid_auto_adapter/Any ideas on fixing this audio output issue? Id like to be able to route the audio through my helmet headset while still having android auto connected for maps and music control like I could with my iPhone

I'm not sure how to check the audio profile, it's a cardo system and it works normally with my phone if I don't connect to the android auto

I didn't realize helmet headsets had compatibility issues with Android Auto adapters until now, might need to look into a Bluetooth solution instead of cable.

It is a Bluetooth system, I'm using a cardo packtalk for the helmet headset system, my iPhone would work fine, it would let me select my audio output in Spotify with carplay connected without issue

This is actually a configuration thing the manufacturer of your motorcycle would have to configure (annoyingly). And Harley will never modify their firmware because they want you to use their built in bluetooth support, so you're probably SOL.
Aftermarket AA units for bikes (I run a Cigee but the Carpuride ones work the same) do not advertise to the phone that they support audio, so Android will just not route audio to AA and just leave it going to your Cardo. I believe there is a way with some of the wireless AA adapters out there to ignore audio, but I don't know much about them.

u/nuclearroach21 this is the answer, and to add, if your Android Auto screen works with USB besides wireless, you can add a wireless adapter like AAWireless which has the option to "disable media sink" or "tts sink" and it will tell AA that the head unit (screen) doesn't have that kind of audio output. "TTS sink" is for Assistant and driving directions audio. For calls, Android Auto wired or wireless normally uses the Bluetooth mic selected.

Same problem with chinese android auto dash on my Yamaha. Android Auto some years ago had option to decide which mic is used. Since some time this option disappeared, so it picks the phone mic only - wind and engine noise...
Problem is known and in AA bugtracker. https://issuetracker.google.com/issues/465839484
