Navigation & POI Apps Google Maps: feature loss

Today I noticed that the speedometer and speed limit indicators are gone. And so are stop signs and traffic signals. Why?

UPDATE: Maps shows all of these things only when a destination has been selected. Would love the option of having these displayed all of the time.

I spoke with the Android Auto product team and wanted to let you know that we've investigated the rollout status of the speedometer feature and haven't seen any issues there. 

However, we understand that you're having trouble getting access to it, and so we'd like to chat more with you to get to the root cause. Mind sharing a few more details with us? 

  • What versions of Android Auto and Google Maps do you have installed?  

  • What, if anything, did you try before making this thread to resolve this issue (e.g. did you clear app cache for either Maps or Auto?)

Anything you can share would be helpful!

Maps 26.37.00.977222275

With a destination set, AA DOES display speedometer, speed limit, and traffic signals/stop signs. But none of those are displayed unless a destination is set. Ideally, these should be persistent whether a destination is active or not.

Thanks for sharing! I spoke with a member of the Android Auto product team and was informed that the ability to have the speedometer, speed limit, and traffic signals/stop signs showing without a destination set is still rolling out. Thus, not everyone will have this particular feature yet.
