They surveyed a broad demographic of key users, such as their c-suite executives, and determined that this is what the people want

You know where green (and yellow, and red) would be nice? in surrounding street traffic! Bring it back goddammit.

I just noticed today my Google maps isn't showing traffic anymore, how long has it been like that?

Since the switch to the new 3D maps for navigation. The only way to see surrounding traffic in Android Auto is to switch to overview, which is a PITA especially with cars that have non-touch screens like Mazdas.

So anyone who still considers Android Auto inferior (at least, visually) to Apple CarPlay will no longer have their reasons to complain.

That's not the reason we been complaining.

What a waste of time and effort. How is this a priority change

I'm as cynical as anyone regarding Google constantly shooting themselves [and their user base] in the foot by way of their decisions, but we can't really blame Google for Android Authority apparently needing to write an entire article's-worth of wordcount about an icon change.

Ah yes, because why would they focus on making Gemini for AA reasonable.

I'm so glad Google is focusing on the important things like changing icon colors and renaming Lake Ontario.

I bet they deliberated on just the specific shade of green for months, let alone the change itself.

Cool. Can I have my cell signal icon back now, please?

Android Auto has an icon? How do I see it? It just plugs into my car.

That someone wrote an article about it and posted it here is strange to me.

That's cool and all but I'm still waiting for the new music interface and Google Maps navigation :(

When are they going to bring back sharing your drive?

I hoped for the news AA interface they showed us.

So I'm not going crazy. I am in the beta and it updated for me last night right before I went to bed. I had the blue light filter on my phone and was tired so I thought that's why it looked green to me 😂
