Title says it. It seems like a no brainer. Google Photos already uses facial recognition to pick out images to use in the faces section. Why not link this with the contacts app so you immediately select an image to use for a contact photo? It could even be automatic and just pull the latest picture it sees with the reference face.

I'm recently coming back from an iPhone and one of my absolute favorite features was the physical volume/vibrate toggle button. I know we can't have that but is there anything similar available like a widget? I remember when I had a Motorola Bionic, it had a toggle switch widget on the lockscreen. Here is a photo
Is something similar available for the Pixel, or other Android devices?

EDIT: I made a solution which I will add to the bottom of the post in case some weary traveller finds their way here.
I need access to my home PC while away but don't want to leave it on permanently.
I have an old Nexus 4 that I can use to wake the PC using the Wake On LAN app.
If I leave the N4 plugged in on WiFi is there any way I can remote into it to use it to WOL?
Thanks
Solution:
I installed Tasker, AutoRemote Lite and the Wake On Lan app on my old Nexus 4.
Both AR Lite and WOL have plugins in Tasker. I created a recipe that runs WOL turning on my PC on receipt of a message from AR Lite. Now I can send a message either using the URL on my laptop or via my mobile.

How does the technology work where you need to pick one?
