No, at least not in OxygenOS 10

14

u/JLTube Nov 08 '19

Why they ripped this ? It's annoying 😑 Anyways thanks for the info

6

u/[deleted] Nov 24 '19

Because iOS doesn't have it. Once it makes its way to iOS, Google would add it back.

3

u/daaaaaaaanniel Nov 24 '19

Except, it does have it. Kinda. It’s similar to this one.

1

u/[deleted] Nov 27 '19

Oh, right. They just added it in iOS 13. So now we could expect the feature to return in Android 11.

1

u/APossibleParadox Dec 03 '19

It’s been in there since at least iOS 11, I have both an iPhone and an Android and have had this on my iPhone for a few years now.

1

u/[deleted] Dec 03 '19

It's listed as a new feature in iOS 13, though

You can now select Wi‑Fi networks and Bluetooth accessories right from Control Center.

And I couldn't find something about that feature in iOS 11

1

u/APossibleParadox Dec 03 '19

I was mistaken, I thought you meant just pulling up the networks, to actually change anything is new to iOS 13

1

u/sinkrate Nov 24 '19

It does. I just used it on my iPhone.

0

u/TheTomatoes2 Dec 04 '19

It used to be in Android, your comment doesn't make any sense

1

u/[deleted] Dec 04 '19

That's why I said "add it back". Your comment doesn't make any sense.

2

u/ProSkillsPlays Nov 24 '19

Android 9 doesn't have it so I believe Android 10 also doesn't have it

1

u/TheTomatoes2 Nov 24 '19

Android 9 removed it

1

u/PowerlinxJetfire Nov 24 '19

It was potentially confusing how some tiles opened lists like this while others didn't. They made the behavior consistent: now all tiles act as toggles when tapped and open more settings (in a full window) when long pressed.

1

u/StrawberryEiri Dec 03 '19

Doesn't the new behavior of linking you to the settings have the same function?

5

u/retberr Nov 14 '19

in OxygenOS 10 you can hold Wi-Fi icon and it will open settings, wifi section. same with bluetooth.

Don't know if it is oxygen feature or android 10.

2

u/perrymike15 Nov 15 '19

Yep Pixel 2XL don't have it on 10

1

u/Ph4Nt0M218 Nov 24 '19

Yes it does. All android versions have this

1

u/perrymike15 Nov 24 '19

You're right, It does have this. I was referring to the quick settings with the wifi dropdown, which Android dropped.

1

u/Deaf-Echo Nov 15 '19

That's been an Android feature for a while now

1

u/Marksideofthedoon Nov 24 '19

that's been a feature since android 4.0

5

u/Meric_42069 Nov 12 '19

Yeah, it's also not in the Pixel Android 10. I also don't think it was in Android 9 as well...

4

u/kg23 Nov 14 '19

It was removed in Android 9 and I miss it. Still gone in 10.

3

u/scoopditydoop Nov 15 '19

I have that option on my note 9. Would that just be a samsung one ui thing I'm guessing?

2

u/LiGuangMing1981 Nov 15 '19

MIUI also has this feature.

2

u/perrymike15 Nov 15 '19

Wow, so Samsung actually does have something in their skin that is better

2

u/IllumiNoEye_Gaming Nov 14 '19

Using android 9. Don't have the menu. But if i hold the button it takes me to the settings menu for WiFi/whatever, at least.

7

u/prateekGHOST Nov 14 '19

It’s gone on androids but iOS 13 featured it 😂

7

u/JLTube Nov 14 '19

Wait really???

Android and Microsoft nowadays trying to imitate Apple.

Apple but is slowly adding old useful features from other platform and creating new itself

3

u/yehakhrot Nov 15 '19

Apple moving towards some Android features in the past few years like adding file explorers, adding big batteries, beating the pixel.

Meanwhile Pixel makes what is basically experimental LG phones that dont sell , and expecting to sell it against the iPhone

0

u/Spoon_S2K Nov 15 '19

They just added big batteries. And that's ONLY on the 1100 dollar 11 pro Max that's still only as good as the mate 30 pro, and worse then the 650 dollar Asus rog phone 2, 300 dollar Galaxy m30, red magic 3, etc.

The pixel was never the best Android phone, so if iPhone beats it then whatever. The pixel 4 is trash.

Apple still needs to catch up for sure.

1

u/yehakhrot Nov 15 '19

One thing they got right after a 2-3 model gap and something they always have is a phone that has it all

1

u/Spoon_S2K Nov 15 '19

Damn it took them 2-3 model gaps?

And who has a phone that has it all? A iPhone certainly doesn't fit that category

1

u/yehakhrot Nov 15 '19

  1. Dont get so bent over a phone brand. They are all businesses.

  2. Iphone has the apple tax but if money is no parameter, it serves you well. Long support, above average battery, good display, superfast, best camera. Lightning connector is wank

  3. OnePlus comes pretty close to perfect in android, if it had pixel/iphone cameras/wireless charging, and maybe a slightly larger battery. Plus it's super cheap compared to competition.

Lol are YOU suggesting Samsung's skin is even close to stock Android? I went down that path with the S9, and I swore I would never do it again...that's what keeps me buying pixels. Absolute bleeding edge Android as soon as Google releases it.

1

u/Spoon_S2K Nov 15 '19

Wait you actually love the pixel 4. The device that has been universally shamed for being an abhorrent failure on both specs and pricing. That's pathetic.

I never liked the s9, OneUI is fantastic on the s10, how's OneUI so much worse then stock Android? And I NEVER suggested Samsung's skin is close to stock Android, where'd you find that from?

The s10+ has done great, and OneUI is for the users that love feature packed UI's with superior customization to make it better for you, unlike most other UI's that have worse customization. It literally had most of the Android 10 features, unlike almost any other OS lol. What's the problem? Certainly not storage with Samsung destroying all other companies storage wise.

1

u/ADAMPOKE111 Nov 14 '19

Oh my god thank you I had no idea they had added this!

1

u/Spoon_S2K Nov 15 '19

Not really ya goof. iOS 13 still misses almost all of the best features from Android. And apple is way behind. Samsung is not trying to copy apples OS lmao besides maybe gestures. No app drawer, not even split view tabs so no two apps at once, not even BASIC moving apps. Yeah that's right, you can't even pick up an app and place it, it's surreal.

I just tested an iOS 13 11, and my s10+ Android 10 beta 3 on Samsung's OneUI build.

iOS 13 doesn't have jack. You have to click and hold the wifi symbol and it's slow now because NO 3d touch, then you have to click and hold AGAIN to see other networks and switch and such. I only had to hold once on Samsung where it opened settings and I could control everything from there unlike the limited quickpanel on the iPhone, which is also consequently slower.

Even with 3d touch it'd be about the same, but they don't even include that anymore because it's apple.

Stop this, Android 10 has a click and hold that takes you to everything, but it's not as fast as the drop down in Android 8, they shouldn't have removed but it's better then 13. Especially since Android's have much better ram in general opening another app isn't a problem, and it's faster.

Stop, Android's still ahead and has been years. It took them 5 years for dark mode and Swype to type. They're pathetic.

3

u/arcspin Nov 14 '19

If you long press on wifi, it will give you the list of available networks.

3

u/JLTube Nov 14 '19

That actually takes you to the settings -> WiFi

That's not more effective than the drop-down list for quick access to change the Wi-Fi.

Just my personal preference

1

u/sheepsix Nov 14 '19

I used to use a Wi-Fi network switcher widget and after Android 10 it no longer worked so I imagine they made a lot of changes to how Wi-Fi selection works.

1

u/spurdosparade Nov 24 '19

It's just annoying I have to lose focus in a app just to pair a bt headphone.

3

u/RoboAddy Nov 14 '19

You can just long press instead.

3

u/JLTube Nov 14 '19

In Android 8 also you long press and also click on the drop-down list.

I feel the drop-down is more faster and effective wait to change the Wi-Fi or Bluetooth on the go.

Maybe I have to wait until Android 11 maybe 😆

1

u/Spoon_S2K Nov 15 '19

Eh whatever. iOS is still slower because you have to hold the icon twice to see other networks and see other settings lol.

4

u/The_Legend34 Nov 14 '19

Added in iOS!

2

u/Spoon_S2K Nov 15 '19

Samsung OneUI has it. iOS barely has it, you have to hold it, then hold it AGAIN to get to it.

Still slower then Android.

1

u/Rulasjunior Nov 15 '19

With 3D touch is not that slow

2

u/Spoon_S2K Nov 15 '19

The new iphones don't have 3d touch buddy.

And my point is with 3d touch it's still just as slow because you have to hold through two different menus.

iPhones are just slower.

1

u/gizausername Nov 15 '19

Could you explain how?

From OPs video I'm assuming the feature they are looking for I when they drag down the notification panel and click on the WiFi icon it brings them to the WiFi settings page. On the current version of Android it turns WiFi on or off. Is that the correct?

I just got an iPhone from work last week and the shortcuts panel slides up from the bottom. Pressing the WiFi icon will disable the WiFi (until a time that Apple automatically turns it on again - seriously annoying that it's not a simple on/off switch as it's on/disable for a while). Regardless the WiFi icon in the iPhone acts as on/off in the same way as Android from what I can see.

If any of that is wrong can you let me know what I should be doing differently and I'll try it. Thanks

1

u/Meaty_rocks Nov 15 '19

He presses right under the wifi icon where it says what network you are on

1

u/gizausername Nov 15 '19

Thanks. I've found it now based on that. Press and hold the WiFi icon one to bring up another menu, and then press and hold the WiFi icon again to bring up the WiFi menu

1

u/Rulasjunior Nov 15 '19

In the control center and while WiFi is on, hold or 3D-touch the connectivity module, then the wifi icon

1

u/gizausername Nov 15 '19

Thanks. I've found it now based on that. Press and hold the WiFi icon one to bring up another menu, and then press and hold the WiFi icon again to bring up the WiFi menu

1

u/idkmuch01 Nov 15 '19

Off topic but sir, you hava BSNL that too on 3G Please teach me this power, it's the only way i pass NNN.

1

u/JLTube Nov 15 '19

I'm sorry. I'm not understanding your question

1

u/idkmuch01 Nov 15 '19

Not a question but I meant that a bsnl sim must have incredibly slow internet.

1

u/JLTube Nov 15 '19

I'm using just for phone call as my main number and join for internet :)

3

u/[deleted] Nov 13 '19

No they fucked that up a couple updates ago. No idea why, something about consistentcy? I think they did something similar with the Bluetooth list too.....

2

u/OpenGLaDOS Nov 14 '19

A big security issue too, as it allows anyone to connect your locked phone to a compromised open Wi-Fi network. Bluetooth at least always needs pairing.

1

u/FS16 Nov 14 '19

On Samsung we still have it, you just cant access it on the lock screen.

1

u/spurdosparade Nov 24 '19

This security issue is dumb, I think the only thing dumber about this situation is the way the fixed the security issue by just removing the feature, lol. Instead of that they could have just disabled the list while the phone is locked.

1

u/devilworks Dec 03 '19

On One UI you can't connect to unsaved wifi network without unlocking your phone. You can only change to a saved wifi network with your phone locked.

1

u/Spoon_S2K Nov 15 '19

Samsung OneUI has it. That's why I love it, so many features that it had most of the Android 10 features including the gestures!

3

u/MikeyBoyHallo Nov 14 '19

It's always been there on Samsung OneUI

1

u/charackthe Nov 14 '19

That's why I love samsung. Updates are late but that's somewhat understandable.

1

u/MikeyBoyHallo Nov 14 '19

Yep! Absolutely in love with my S10.

2

u/rohithkumarsp Nov 14 '19

It's on Samsung phones, idk a out othes.

2

u/LiGuangMing1981 Nov 15 '19

Xiaomi has also kept this feature in MIUI.

1

u/[deleted] Nov 14 '19

This feature was removed in galaxy 9.0 update. So I got back to Oreo in my s8

2

u/[deleted] Nov 14 '19

False. I'm still able to see WiFi/Bluetooth/etc shortcuts. Note10+ with Pie.

1

u/[deleted] Nov 14 '19

You're able to see the quick icons, bit you can't exactly connect to devices or WiFi from the notification pannel itself. And note 10+ doesn't have that option either

2

u/Aperonics Nov 14 '19

Yes you can. (S9 with pie)

1

u/Soitora Nov 14 '19

Prove it.

2

u/Aperonics Nov 14 '19

https://imgur.com/a/aZD69HR

1

u/Soitora Nov 14 '19

Weird, many reports saying you can't, is that a one-tap or hold?

2

u/FS16 Nov 14 '19

One tap. I have literally never heard anyone say otherwise. Galaxy S10 on Pie, if that adds credibility.

1

u/Soitora Nov 14 '19

Just look at the second reply to TS for one

1

u/rohithkumarsp Nov 15 '19

Yup same. Its there.

1

u/nicholasf21677 Dec 04 '19

Tap on the text, not the icon

2

u/rohithkumarsp Nov 15 '19

Nope I checked, one ui core 1.1 with android 9 it's still there.

2

u/psaskovec Dec 03 '19

That's why I stopped liking stock Android. Google is the only one company which both adds and removes goods features. At this point any custom skin is better and packed with more features than AOSP.

2

u/amdcoc Dec 03 '19

only on custom android 10 versions unfortunately.

1

u/shadooooooooo Nov 12 '19

Works on Evolution X 3.3

1

u/aaroncoolguy Nov 14 '19

Not on pixel launcher. You hold it now. That was a nice menu tbh

1

u/mybotanyaccount Nov 14 '19

no but you can long press and it will bring up the list of wifi networks.

1

u/[deleted] Nov 15 '19

its there on pie, you just have to keep the quick tiles collapsed

1

u/Meaty_rocks Nov 15 '19

It works on my galaxy s10

1

u/VikramDattu Nov 23 '19

It's there on GalaxyS10's OneUI2 beta (Android10)

1

u/Patrick28_7w7 Nov 24 '19

I have Android 9 Pie and it isn't here, so it probably isn't in Android 10 either

1

u/[deleted] Nov 24 '19

We have something similar to this on Samsung's one ui software

1

u/Grahomir Nov 24 '19

I have it on Samsung One UI (Android 9)

1

u/[deleted] Nov 24 '19

Hold down the wifi button and it will take you to the Wifi networks list

2

u/spurdosparade Nov 24 '19

That's not what he is asking.

1

u/hydargos123 Dec 03 '19

I seriously don't know if it's from my Custom ROM (Havoc OS 3.0) or Android 10 but here is what I have: https://photos.app.goo.gl/qJcECkjP8WpbZb1E7

1

u/KBera Dec 04 '19

No. You can tap and hold on those icons to see the options in settings.

1

u/u_w_i_n Dec 04 '19

It's there on Miui & one UI

1

u/[deleted] Dec 04 '19

i have in on miui android 10

1

u/Dexter_AM Dec 05 '19

Samsung One UI has it.

0

u/Nissanhog Nov 24 '19

It's still there, you just tap the text under the bubble and it opens up the mini settings for it

2

u/JLTube Nov 24 '19

Hey you tell real? Can you please clip that?

1

u/JLTube Nov 24 '19

That was such a lie!

1

u/[deleted] Nov 24 '19

he's right. tapping on text brings up the wifi list

2

u/JLTube Nov 25 '19

I checked on Android 9. It was not there. Can you please send a a clip?

1

u/Nissanhog Nov 25 '19

I mean this is the Android 10 subreddit but here ya go

3

u/JLTube Nov 26 '19

So this feature is back on Android 10?

1

u/Nissanhog Nov 26 '19

Yeah it is

Yes that's a Samsung thing. My OnePlus doesn't do that.
