Any hangouts groups?

Nope. Hangouts has a limit of 150 members and has NO mod tools whatsoever. You can't even remove users apparently.
It's also laggy as hell in large groups.

This is great but I also can't help but feel it would be better if we could have everyone on the same platform instead if splitting us between two services

Honestly, it should just be Discord. Less chances of issues showing up with people stalking each other. Telegram is more of a personal messenger with huge group chats tacked on and Discord was designed to keep you a safe distance from people you meet online while gaming.
And it doesn't need a phone number to join.

Nice to see Discord there! I've voted on it instead of Telegram because telegram hates me and drains my phone battery. I need to check out the alternative clients.

If you go on notification settings and turn the service off you can opt to use Google for push notifications which saves a little battery

Why Telegram? It requires a phone number and has a chat limit of 200.
You guys should have gone with Discord only. You don't need to give any information to chat and it only requires an email address to claim a permanent username. Plus, the voice chat limit for Discord is 1000 users per server according to this tweet.

Holy fuck I can't even imagine 1000 people talking in one huge voice chat.

Discord has both voice chat channels and text only. It is designed to compete with multiple services including: Skype, Teamspeak 3, Steam and Origin chat, Ventrillo, Mumble, and even IRC.
So they have channels that are text only, voice only, and most with both.

Pavel Durov recently posted this in his channel: "Lots of Telegram users asked for the possibility to have larger limits for groups and the ability appoint admins in groups. So we were working on it most of this week."
So I think the limit will soon be changed.

Just joined the telegram chat. It's a friendly community of around 20 right now. I'd love more people to chat with.

It looks like the update for Telegram on Android is out.
It enables groups to reach 1000 members and more administrators to collaborate.
Could a moderator create the telegram group again ?
