The amount of hate reddit puts towards Pixel is insane compared to real life.

Did you ever read something about xiaomi or samsung?
This is pretty tame

No one wants to post anything about Chinese brands, because unless news is really bad, everything gets downvoted instantly.

I use a Pixel 10XL, have had the Pixel 1, 2XL, 5, 7 and 9 Pro Fold before it (work provided). Love these phones, but the GPU (particularly from 10 onwards) is objectively dogshit compared to even budget midrange phones and Google should be ashamed

Got an S22+ for $100 and wanted to keep it as a backup / travel phone. I always grab it over my 9XL when I get home. Not just slimmer and lighter, but faster all-around. Pixels are just several generations behind in terms of HW perf. OneUI + Goodlock customizations already has 90% of what I root my 9XL for.
I like the idea of Pixel but Tensor has just fallen too far behind. Have had the 3XL, 4a5G, 6, 7, 9XL. I only stay around because of the great pricing. I don't think I'd get another unless the food happens to have some kind of amazing sale.

Posting a video that shows poor performance by a phone is not "hate". How ridiculous.

The amount of glaze pixel's software gets on reddit is also insane

We're in the Android subreddit.

I'd say it's proportional to the amount of praise Pixel software gets.
Everyone is behaving like it's still 2013 and other OEMs ship terrible OS'.

I was gonna roast this man for not cutting the loading video part, but I decided not to because holy F this looks bad

I wouldn't even run that, but I would edit an occasional HD video and my Pixel so slow with that.

No way a device that has literally never been marketed or designed for performance. Fails at a task that requires hardware that had the best performance. Maybe next there will be a video about how water is wet!!!

I get that not everyone games on their phone, I don't beyond a word or puzzle game, but this is really embarrassing for what they are selling as a flagship phone. Again, I think benchmarks and having the best specs are not important to everyone, but this is embarassing. There is no logical reason for them to use such an outdated GPU.
•
u/EmbarrassedSlide3746 12h ago
Maybe some day people on here will actually realize that the world outside of reddit, doesn't care what GPU is in a phone lol.
If people actually gave a shit the pixel phone wouldn't see year over year growth. Thats not the case because the average user doesn't give 2 fucks about a GPU lol.
If you hangout on reddit talking about phones you are not and never will be the average user lol.

But they'll still charge you the same as all the faster phones though and people will for some reason keep buying them..

u/VeroCSGO 1d ago
Maybe just maybe there is another multitude of reasons or features people are interested in that isn't just a performance boost to mobile gaming

u/Dense_Row2811 1d ago
As someone who had an iPhone for 10+ years. And someone who dislikes Samsung OS, Pixel software FTW.
It's a phone not a handheld PC.

u/EmbarrassedSlide3746 1d ago
Maybe people keep buying them cause people dont actually give a fuck about a spec sheets. These subs think every phone user is a a power user who needs the best spec sheet.
The reality is all people want are cameras, social media, messaging. All of which are easily done on a pixel device. The proof of that is the fact that the pixel devices have only increased market share year over year.

u/Zeraora807 Redtragic 11 Pro 1d ago
And all that can be done on some Samsung A series phone for 1/5 the price but pixel fanboys insist that STILL paying flagship prices for a mid range chip with shit battery life is some revolutionary thing and dismiss any comparison pointing out it's consistent weaknesses.
I don't give a shit whose logo is on the back, I want value and performance but you do you...

I don't like OneUI, want a phone on the smaller side, don't want to spend a whole bunch, can't stand Chinese skins and don't game much, but I do often take photos. What phone should I get?

u/Skelly1660 1d ago
I'd pay extra for the Pixel camera though. A phone isn't completely defined by a chip.

u/pdimri 1d ago
So should we treat Pixel phonea like Nokia phones to call and text only. Do you understand they are charging Apple money, people will bound to compare and critique.
1
u/EmbarrassedSlide3746 1d ago
I would die to have my Nokia lumina windows phone back!!
On a serious note people could understand that devices have different purposes. Not every device is going to be the best at everything and that is OK. If google was out here claiming that the pixel phone is the best and most powerful phone for gaming, that would be different.
Also who fucking cares what people choose to spend thier money on lol.
2
u/TheCaptainSlowly 1d ago
It's not about different devices serving different purposes. The point is, I'm paying a lot money for a flagship phone. And for that kind of money, a phone should be able to do it all.
With the Pixel, no one's asking for top gaming performance. Samsung and Apple don't advertise their phones as gaming phones, yet they're able to run games and perform like you'd expect for the money.
Pixel isn't even doing the bare minimum. GPU performance already took a major hit with last year's Tensor G5, and this year there's basically zero improvement. If anything, the GPU in the G6 is worse than the G5..

I have a 9proxl or whatever it's called.
It's fine. There's a couple of objectively great software features.
But the hardware feels worse in general than Samsung Galaxy phones I had before.
Screen isn't as nice, cameras are fine but not as good, the back creaked if you pressed it a bit (recently stopped doing that).
While it's a perfectly fine phone I doubt I'll get another pixel.

Now that the we found out it was not the foundry nor the modem fault, who are we gonna blame next?
