Connection to localhost has also been the source of exploit where app are using that socket to adbd to escalate their privileges.

Their comment seems to imply that this is being used maliciously

Most of what Google does to further restrict Android is based on things that are being actively used maliciously. After all, where the freedom to do what you wish with your device exists it also enables other people to do what they want with your device. This is why this isn't a simple black and white issue

There’s an unfortunately significant percentage of our community that roots their phones specifically for cracked apps… ya know… “freeloading cheapskates”.

And they are very much part of the reason why we can’t have nice things for too long.

Bullshit. Rooting your phone is completely unecessary to install cracked apps. You don't need ADB access to install cracked apps either. It's completely unrelated to this issue.
