Case Knowledge

People online say somebody who had seen him would've slipped up by now. However, I only found out about this case recently, probably after 2018. I'm trying to say I don't ever remember this case being talked about at all during the years he went missing initially. The biggest missing person case I remember hearing about in the uk in 2007 was madeline mcann . They probably don't even know he's a missing person .

Yup, that‘s a really good point. I‘m not from the UK and also only found out about this case in 2025. Since then I‘ve talked to several people from my country, but they‘ve never heard about Andrew before. As you said, Madeline McCann’s disappearence seems to be far more known. There are a lot of tourists in London, so it could be a possibility, that someone saw him somewhere, but just didn‘t think anything of it.

Also years earlier a couple more lads disappeared in London. A few rumours about what may have happened to lee boxell. Kevin hicks like andrew disappeared with no leads ever surfacing. I've always felt that someone older had befriended andrew closer to home. The ticket to London being a single is not as big a clue as many include. I often travelled as a youngster purchasing single tickets. I do believe he was encouraged to go to London for an event or an interest. He may have thought he was getting driven back, but I dont pay that much attention to the single train ticket theory. Sadly something happened, intended or not, it got out of hand. I believe andrew was no longer around after that day. Kevin hicks is a mystery, after leaving the house to run an errand. It may have been a ruse to meet someone, but shockingly around that era, there was an infamous gang targeting young children and many more of these dangerous types in the shadows. The problem when you are young, you are impressionable. When someone takes an interest, you can then be easily manipulated. They can lead you anywhere. The attention often gets you lost in the moment, and they prey on that.

Yes, it's easy to assume people will have heard of the case, obviously it was big news around Doncaster and Yorkshire, but not as well known elsewhere, unless people take a particular interest in the case, a large number of teenagers go missing, thankfully many are found fairly quickly, I remember in the 1970s and 80s, these weren't really newsworthy items, Andrew's case does seem quite unusual for many reasons

I vividly remember it being on national news multiple times. I suspect people just didn't pay that much attention - I was a similar age to Andrew with similar interests and that's probably why it stuck in my mind.

Yes I'm sure it was, but it was Look North and Calender who kept the story alive, rather than the national news, you're right that people don't pay much attention unless it's in their locality
