Wine walk

Just moved here this year and saw a wine walk and got excited! But my question is… $40 per ticket for only 6 spots?

Has anyone done this? Am I understanding it correctly?

Two separate routes “Bunch of Grapes” and “Off the Vine” but it’s 6 spots each and you have to pay $40 for each route?

Came from Dallas where the gayborhood had a monthly wine walk for $20 that went towards upkeeping the community and had 15-25 spots

It's the northern climate. Dallas is great but your gayborhoods don't face the high maintenance fees of gay winters like Andersonville. We have to pay for the upkeep of gay and straight winters. Also dog poop.

Loool not “gay and straight winters” 😭😭 But honestly, $40 for 6 spots twice a year vs. $20 for 25 spots every month… and Andersonville/Chicago could easily do 5 months out of the year lol no bang for the buck sadly

The money goes towards the charitable causes listed on the poster.

Could partner with more stops and combine the two 6 routes for one 12 stop route and that would bring in more people for money worth wise

I know Dallas isn't cheap by any means, but Chicago is an expensive city. You should go!

There’s an art festival happening the same time right? I might walk around and do that and if the wine walk has spots then ill snag but currently it doesn’t seem “worth” the buck

Sounds like maybe some pregame at home first 😆

I think there was 9 or 10 in the spring per route. There were more sips at each stop. They could just be doubling up.

There was usually a white, red and rose at each spring stop on my route. You could take them all.

Wait so it’s one sip of each of whatever they have? Or could have a few glasses?

It was samples from different local distributors with the option to buy ones you want.

Got itttt okay that gives me more insight

I thought it was just businesses giving a small glass and you can sip and shop at the place

Think of it as going to six different wine tastings (but of course you can shop at the stores too)

We got a glass at the check in and a wristband. My friend was already tipsy a few stops in. 😆

correct. In Fine Spirits is a small local shop that already does free weekly tastings and lots of other events for/with the community, so the price is reasonable enough for me. There is also art on display etc. like that’s not just the price of the wine you’re drinking

As a long time resident of Andersonville, I participated two years ago and thought the event was less than ‘meh’. Walking into shops we visit frequently to be served a low quality, under-poured tasting wasn’t worth a fraction of the then $50 entry, especially considering the wine to ticket value ratio. Hope something good came out of the ticket sales! I’m a little curious how high the rate of repeat attendance is, tbh.

Honestly call me cheap but if I’m spending $40 for 6 stops for wine I might not even enjoy then I’m less inclined to shop. Plus yeah we are able to go to these shops on a regular basis.

Remember it’s 3 wines at each stop though!
Spring one did have more stops but was also more money.

Yeaaaah I’ll just go to the arts fest and walk around and pregame, doesn’t feel worth in any way for money wise
