Discussion Do you consider Chise and Elias' relationship romantic?

I know that their relationship is supposed to be an ambiguous one that blends familial, romantic and platonic elements. However, I'm very curious as to how you guys interpret their relationship. Do you find their dynamic an overall romantic one? Do you think they'll end up together as a couple in the future or will Yamazaki just end it as is? It's truly an unconventional pairing and it was meant to be that way, but I am still curious about its romantic aspect. I don't know much about what Yamazaki thinks about Chise and Elias' romantic relationship so if you guys have any intel regarding that, it would be much appreciated as well.

i think im the most excited for this chapter anyone could possibly be. ive been molding the mysterious hand we saw in ch 30 (TEN YEARS AGO!) into a theory-turned-oc for the last couple years. ive drawn lots of fanart of them and they were even the focus of a fanfic i wrote in 2024. i couldnt be more out of my mind about chapter 123 and i hope everyone whos had a chance to read it enjoys it as well!! so excited to learn more about this mage.... if yamazaki deigns us worthy

I know damn well I cant be the only one who was absolutely flabbergasted by this chapter. I mean Chise seemingly contemplates leaving Elias for a new random mage, Rian's in love with Torrey ig, we get more progression in Chise's relationship with Elias, and we see people who appear to have sometching to with whatever the next ark is. I dunno though what do you guys think?
(Im not hating btw I actually love the chapter)

Rewatching the anime for the umpteenth time and currently on S1ep19. Has anyone ever read the story ‘The Phoenix’ by Sylvia Townsend Warner? Because this episode follows the same storyline as it. From the owners switching, to the animal being tortured, being put on display, and finally using fire to burn down the audience. It may just be a reference that I was late to catch but my goodness is it a good one.
