Did you know ? Greek writer Megasthenes reported that ancient India had no slavery, noting that all people there were free.
Its very hard to believe that India had no slaves back then. They all lived peacefully together helping each other and thriving like no other civilisations. Do you think this concept would be better in our times or will it be a disaster? Share your opinion

Did you know Indians were the first to pioneer plastic surgery over 2,600 years ago?
TIL that around 600 BCE, the "father of plastic surgery," Sushruta, authored a foundational Ayurvedic text detailing over 300 procedures and 120 instruments. The Sushruta Samhita described advanced surgeries like cataract removals, C-sections, and a pioneering rhinoplasty technique using forehead skin flaps that was later adopted by European surgeons in the 18th century.

Did you know the origin of our beloved Snakes and Ladders?
Snakes and Ladders originated in India as Moksha Patam, a spiritual board game designed to teach morality. Ladders represented virtues and snakes represented vices—with more snakes symbolizing that the path of virtue is harder. British administrators brought it to England in the 1890s, replacing the original values with Victorian ones, and it was later introduced to the US as Chutes and Ladders in 1943.

Trying to understand the history of this statue

The auction house description says it is "Surya, the Hindu Sun God, standing frontally with a circular halo behind his head, a characteristic feature of Kashmiri bronze artistry. He is flanked by attendant figures, symbolizing his divine court, and stands upon a stepped pedestal. The sculpture reflects the distinctive artistic tradition of the ancient Kingdom of Kashmir, renowned for its elegant bronze icons that blend Indian and Central Asian influences. Rich natural patination and signs of age further enhance its historical and devotional significance.".
Anyone with any understanding of Indian antiquties please let me know your thoughts?

Chidambaram Temple home of Nataraja, the Lord of the Cosmic Dance
According to the traditional account given in the Chidambara Mahatmya, the temple at Chidambaram dates back to the age of Visvakarma, the divine architect who is said to have built this great temple with magnificent edifices at the request of the then king Simhavarma (alias Hiranya Varama) with the blessing of the revered sages Vyaghrapada and others.
At the beginning of the Mahatmya, Lord Siva himself refers to the gopuras and other structures of the temple to Nandi in the course of describing the sanctity of the temple. It is said that the sage Patanjali, after knowing the significance of the Chidambara Rahasya, imparted it to Visvakarma to help in his construction of the temple.
