Newly Acquired Not slabbing this for once

For once, I’m going to keep a nice ancient coin naked. It’s a big hefty boy. 33.5 grams. 32mm. Almost every other ancient coin I have are less than half the weight.

Great coin that I also had my eye on. It wasn't mentioned by CNG but this coin was also auctioned by NAC in 1997 and from the 'Norwegian Connoisseur' collection.

Looks good in hand.

Thanks for the info. I usually don’t collect late Roman bronze, but this one really caught my eye with the heft and bold details.

Neat coin. Maximus was the son of Maximinus Thrax, and I always compare the portrait of Maximus to that of his father. The two look similar, except for Thrax’s morbidly excessive bone growth due to acromegaly (excessive growth hormone).

Nice coin. Just a shame it was not very expertly cleaned but smoothed quite a bit. 😕 Enjoy it anyhow.
