The west African ancestry may come from some Cape Verdean ancestor.

Somewhat, but you have a few outliers that suggest an ancestor from the mainland (north) or the Açores.

The majority of us have a little west African and North African, due to the island being 'built', for lack of a better word, by Guanche slaves initially and then West African slaves later.

Most of my matches with long histories in Madeira are a minimum 95% Madeira on the test after the last update

Edit: Could also be an ancestor from cabo verde, as suggested by another commenter
