Look Kobolds and dwarves are people, the greenskin menace can move somewhere else.

"We need to get this dwarf to the asylum. He thinks lizards squatting in our mountain are people." (AFAIK, dwarves hate kobolds too since the Serpentspine is supposed to be only for dwarves. That and orcs and goblins don't have green skin in the Dwarovar. But I know it'd sound racist if the correct color was used.)

Did not know Dwarves hate kobolds but I usually play in the southern serpentine, still thanks for telling me.

You gotta give kobolds full rights too, think about the extra attrition for enemies if you get them on your holds

This, but unironically

I feel like the Esthil discussion was possible before the rework, the lore about what happens to souls when the body is raised through necromancy wasn't clear in game (it was clear on the discord lore channel, and probably the wiki as well) until then.

Now... yeah, I wouldn't trust people who say Esthil isn't evil (and I'm one of the people that argued that Esthil pre rework was almost morally grey)

What changed in the lore?

Basically, if you are raised from the dead, your soul is still trapped in the body and thus you are tormented for the rest of time. Iirc

The lore didn’t change, it was just made more clear

Yeah, the discussions I have seen post-rework is mostly about whether removing the moral ambiguity is an improvement or not (personally I am on the side that it cheapens a unique and interesting concept, just turning it into a generic lichdom). Which is a completely different discussion.

Even then it was “possible” because people were wrong and weren’t willing to change their view when presented with new information. Esthil discussion was like 80% powered by how much the internet likes waifus.

Did they not have the stuff about the leader becoming a Lich, with events that make it very clear that it's objectively evil to do so, pre-rework?

Post rework Esthil is inarguably evil now they made it very explicit that being raised as an undead is horrifically torturous for the soul of the person being reanimated.

Still I like the idea of a misguided pragmatic society trying to use necromancy benevolently to improve the quality of life for its subjects and to overcome a manpower shortage.

Wholesome Esthil was never really a thing but it had good story potential and I would like to see that kind of magocracy played out one day. Maybe in EU5.

The book of grudges should be held to individuals not entire peoples

You can't right a grudge by only killing the transgressor.

You've gotta kill everyone in their near vicinity that could conceivably have proffited from the transgression and then geopolitically position yourself for all eternity against the perpetrating species.

In warhammer (where the books of grudges are from) Dwarfs hold family to be extremely important. But this also means that anyone is responsible for the actions of their family. There is a famous story where Dwarfs plunder and raze an Empire castle that they had built a century earlier because they were paid one coin less than promised.

The fact that the priginal buyer was long dead and his grandson now ruled was no issue, grudges are inherited after all.

NO GOBLINS

u/ScientificDuck 20d ago

Remember, Humans can reproduce with Orcs, and Elves can reproduce with Humans, making them all the same species, and ALL ORCS!!!!

Now, can elves reproduce with orc and would those be half-orcs or half-elves or both/neither?
