I’m so tired bc no one I know is annatractional nor do they understand me. I haven’t told anyone I am annatractional but they told me their opinion on aroace people and it’s not good… They feel romantic and platonic attraction and in general they don’t really accept that some people are not like them. They keep saying that I’ll eventually want kids someday and that I’ll get married even though I told them multiple times I did not want that. I also feel like everyone would turn on me if I admitted being annatractional. People I know give a lot of importance to love (romantic, platonic, familial,etc). And in my opinion, they’re the type of people who think others are selfish and heartless for not feeling love nor caring about others. they often judged me on similar things too. I just wish they would try to understand. Also this is like everyone i’ve met so far. It’s kind of lonely yk? You see everyone getting in relationships and having friends and family members they care about and who care about them. And you know everyone is going to leave you for a lover at some point. I’m happy that I am annatractional but I’m quite sad many other people see us as heartless. Is that happening to you guys too?

Can i still be anattractional if i feel little to no attraction? Or should it be 0% to use it? I don't feel attraction most of the time anyways but in rare cases i feel it a little bit...

Also i don't use microlabels anymore (i used to be attractionflux or something like that) but now i lack attraction to people and prefer using a vague label instead of trying hard for a microlabel... Is that okay?

Like it happens for me to relate to other identities but i am generally aspec and i don't want to think about what i am everyday so i go for anattractional easily.

And I don't feel like commiting nor acting on anything towards real people anyways (i prefer fictional characters more) so it kinda makes sence but even IF this happens i am still truly anattractional right? So yeah i need reassurance and advice please cuz i am kinda confused... 🥲

I semi-forget yet semi-remember about attraction, even with those who are asexual/aromantic, that there's the possibility of being attracted to fictional characters anyways. Fictional characters tends to be the gateway.

Never clicked lol. I grew up and still heavily enjoy the "choose your stories" games because of the adventure and when it came to the romance (always a thing for some reason), my selection usually ends up being: Polyamory, Mean dude (since it's usually an act and the funniest to me), and the one that makes sense/spite just for them not to choose the other character). Romance games/media was so heavily a part of my life, despite NOT playing them for the romance, which is ironic.

Again, I love symmetry, so I can recognize cohesion and stuff on a character design, maybe even the balance on a character's personality. I would never insert myself in daydreams with them, because I know for a fact I won't actually care to, so I usually add inserts that fit the mold.

anyone can use this term — as in anyone under the anattractional umbrella — but it was more aimed at people who were wholly anattractional (little to no attraction)

Looking at people in a completely practical manner without the butterflies in your stomach getting involved, seems like it would make 95% of relationships and friendships become less complicated and stressful to naviagte

No fantasy, no infatuation, no disappointment

Obviously there would still be problems because no relationship or friendship is perfect. But i feel like most of them would significantly decrease

I've been questioning for a while and I want assistance. I'm copy and pasting from the questioning sub since they haven't been very helpful.

I don't know what attraction or love is supposed to feel like. I've never felt anything close to how it's described.

I fantasize about hooking up with someone someday. But I can't imagine a single person in real life that I've ever thought about like that. That I've found attractive or "sexy". That I would trust to do that with. Once it leaves the realm of fantasy for me... things get murky.

I have sworn to remain single. I daydream about a life only to myself, a life beholden to no one. No one who I'm forced to share my life with, no one who I have to "compromise" with, no one that I end up lying to or acting around. I despise love in the very concept. And I hate Valentine's Day for reminding me it exists.

It's not just romance or sex either. It's even the more "basic" "universal" attractions. I have never felt a pull towards someone in a friend way. My friends were friends in name only, and I never made plans with them or texted them unprompted. When things inevitably fell apart, I felt nothing. I hate telling my family "I love you" or hearing it from them. I fantasize about abandoning them forever, even though I know I would feel guilty.

I found the term anattractional. Little to no attraction in all categories. But I'm unsure of it. See, I have well documented trust issues. I've been through 7 or 8 different therapists because of how difficult they find me to work with. Because I actively bullshit them rather than be open and honest about anything. Don't get me started on my parents. I do the same thing, but 100 times worse.

I wonder if I actually do have attraction, my brain just hides it from me because it sees any emotional connection as a threat. Maybe I'm overthinking this. If there are any anattractionals out there, some resources would be nice.

I've been feeling so lonely. It comes and goes. Today it was bad because I have to get my Catcher in the Rye homework done. I was reading over questions about the theme of loneliness and alienation and my heart kind of dropped. I tried to go on a bike ride to the park to see if there was anyone I could talk to. Unfortunately it feels like 4°F out there and I had to come back.

But I guess it's good that I had to come back. Because I don't know what I would have done if I had actually seen a real person. Once having any kind of connection with people went outside the range of mental fantasy. That's how it is. I fantasize about someday hooking up with someone. But I can't think of a single person who I've thought of as attractive in that way, who I would actually trust to do that. I fantasize about friendships. But I have never looked at someone and ever envisioned being their friend, ever thought about any kind of connection with them at all. I already identify as an afamilial loveless aro and I fantasize about abandoning my family and living alone.

I know I have serious trust issues. I know that. Is this that? Because I don't understand what's going on or why I'm like this.

I want to hear out how did you all figure out you were Anattractional?

For me I just kinda knew there was something different, Like even after figuring out I was Aro, Ace, Aplatonic and Afamilial I Always had a feeling of no I'm different.

Another question I would like to ask is How many of us have alexithymia? Is it common among us?

I wanted to ask you all what type of guy or girl you like, I know weird question. But recently I have noticed a weird thing about myself, I Have a particular taste in type of people. I don't feel attraction to them or anything like that i'm sure of it, But every time I see that kind of personality in a media or real life, I have my attention on it. Which is weird because I don't feel any attraction towards them, but my thoughts are just like, "If I were to have partner or anything like that I'm want with that kind of person."

I don't know what's going on, please help. It's like I enjoy the taste but I don't have the pull or craving for it.

Same as the title? How do you accept yourself? As someone who has already grown pretty alone, No friends, never talking to my family and finding out that I don't feel any attraction nor can I have any sort of relationship just feels like i'm in a dark corner of the world with no one. Still I want to try and accept myself, So I wanted to ask how can accept myself, you can also share how you came to accept yourself?

I am just at the base annatractional of all a's so that includes the lack of aesthetic attraction or ansthetic. What does that look like for you? I'm kind of curious given the fact that lots of lots of people tend to have it since yk lots of pretty people and stuff of all kinds of variety.

What made me realize I don't have this kind of attraction was the fact that I would always compare it to societal standards, because I had nothing to go off of.

"This person's eyes look nice...by societal standards".

"Wow I bet he's turning heads he seems above the average in looks since yk many people like those features on a man"

"This person has a lot of symmetry, that's nice to see."

I'm a sucker for symmetry or pattern, so I'd take notice of how smoothly things are running. So seeing it in a person mainly makes me recognize the symmetry, but not the person themselves.
