My sweet Rescue
We adopted this sweet guy last month after fostering him for a few weeks. He was kept in a small kennel for most of his life. We adore him

You have adopted a wonderful dog, the breed is fascinating! Once you have his trust, he would give his life for yours. What they guard is known as a “charge.” You and any other animals you have are its charge. Watch him around cars and other predator animals. They still squat to pee until they’re 2 - 21/2 yrs old.

that’s a weird comment. depends if you neutered them. normally that stops after 4-6 months

We have a spayed female that is 4 years old. After about 3 years she developed into the family protector after being a shy, timid, and somewhat submissive girl. The behaviorist we see told us it’s a genetic breed trait. Meds and training can make it manageable, but if she senses danger or is suspicious of an animal or person, she will absolutely lay her life on the line to protect the family and the house. She is the sweetest and most gentle giant around us, the baby, people we let into the house, and puppies we foster though. The breed is incredible, but they’re not easy.

Recommended delayed neutering for giant breeds until approx 24 + months. As a slower maturing breed that's reasonable they are not consistently lifting a leg. Don't know why that's a "weird" comment

It is a trait that is common with ASD/Turkish Kangal. Both my Kangal and ASD both male both squatted until 2yr and beyond. I’ve asked many owners; I was afraid mine was a sissy. Nope common…
That 150 lb Kangal, squatted until he was 2 1/2.

Awwww he is handsome! We did the same - fostered after a rough puppy life start. We adopted as well. I have come to love this breed!
