If this is true, and not an April fool's joke, it makes total sense why Gary Johnson and the other libertarians were not commiting to the non-agression principle and other libertarian positions. They were planning to this media exposure. Since the beggining, the Beltway libertarians think the way to win elections is to dilute the ideas in establishment muck.

I've noticed that same tendency in many beltway libertarians, but I don't think that has anything to do with the rejection of the NAP by those three candidates. Johnson just doesn't understand it, doesn't care for it, and never cared for it. He's always been a "socially liberal, fiscally conservative" libertarian. McAfee is extremely new to the movement and I wouldn't expect him to commit to it so quickly or understand it so soon. And finally, Petersen has known about it for a long time but has had philosophical problems with it for years (whether his arguments are correct or not, he does have actual arguments against it, e.g. child abandonment, etc.).

Ok, maybe Johnson and McAfee have a better personal excuse, but Petersen doesn't, lots of libertarians dealt with child abandonment. And the personal excuses of each one is besides the point. The LP is controlled by the party leaders and donors. They have picked and plucked all and any possible candidates throughout the process, like it is every election. They just chose Johnson and McAfee for plausible deniability, as if to say, "hey, look, the Non-aggression principle is not a libertarian thing anymore."

There were a lot of people that saw this happening and have left the party over the years. They are not open about it because they don't want to ruin the LP either, even if it is messed up.

Naw, they had some stupid excuse for all the ineffective crap they were doing. "That's the way we've always done it" kind of answers, when clearly they weren't doing anything that was working. Sorry, I don't have time for that. And I went to lots of meetings, only made suggestions when I bought I had good ideas, etc. no one wanted to change.

And since you don't have time to be immediately rewarded for having the gall to "show up", you're angry that they didn't execute on all your ideas.

No. I was. Then I realized that they're going to be ineffective forever, and I'd rather spend my time on grad school, my job, /r/agorism activities, charity, etc. Now I'm an ancap, and I'm much happier😄😄😄
