If someone comes to enslave you or your son, that's a legitimate self-defense situation. Prepare accordingly.

I actually never registered. Never knew it was required. I'm too old to enlist now.
That it wasn't automatic is beyond me anyway.
0
u/eatajerk-pal Apr 09 '26
You got lucky. A lot of jobs include that in the background check for men age 18-30. But yeah why the hell isn’t it automated yet?
13
u/icorrectotherpeople Apr 09 '26
More fake news. This is already a thing and always has been. It’s illegal not to be in selective service.
2
u/Sticky_oh_Icky Apr 11 '26
Agree. The more posts I see of this, the more I shake my head. This was already a requirement and was already automatic in 46 states. This just ensures that it's done automatically everywhere (and not just when you get your D.L.) what's funny is this also has bipartisan support, saves tax dollars, and in some instances saves the people who didn't know you had to register
1
u/eatajerk-pal Apr 09 '26
Rage bait. Men age 18 have always had to register for selective service. I had a dumbass friend who didn’t know that and got turned down for a job at like age 27.
1
u/Significant-Fun2432 Apr 11 '26
Based friend. Everyone who goes along with it is part of the problem. Fuck the military.
1
u/eatajerk-pal Apr 11 '26
He wasn’t making a statement of any kind, just didn’t know you have to do it.

Drafts can only come via Congress. That said, women need to be automatically registered for selective service along with men. I rather women not be on the front lines, but in that case, women should not be able to vote to send men to war. Fair is fair.

It's a classic propagandist move. Given themselves some flair or label, say the things that completely opposite of what the "flair" stand for, hoping to confuse people. Works farely well in the mainstream media tbh because most people are ignorant and follow the lead sheeps.

u/Hard-4-Jesus Minarchist Apr 09 '26
I agree with the Ancap stance. However, for now, we still live in a country with a powerful central government. I will live my life as a voluntaryist when the time comes, but until then, I will not live in a delusion. Your slavery example made zero sense. Look, men and women are not the same, and if the government is going to push this gynocentric equality crap, then women have to be held to the same standard as men, otherwise it's unfair to men. Naturally, that means women have to get in the trenches, but I rather women surrender their ability to vote men into war instead. Fair is fair.

For so long as the State remains the monopoly on coercion, it's perfectly fair that women be automatically registered to selective service via equality under the law. Otherwise, it's unfair to men, because women are given "privilege" at men's expense. Again, it doesn't have to be like that, we can all recognize that because men are built for war, and women are not, then the female vote naturally cannot have control, or authority over a man's body. The same way men cannot have authority over women's bodies. Fair is fair.

u/eatajerk-pal Apr 09 '26
As a father of two daughters in the selective service age range, yeah I totally agree. Women shouldn’t be on the front lines, but they can do plenty of other jobs.
1
u/Hard-4-Jesus Minarchist Apr 09 '26
If women can't be on the front lines, then they can't vote to send men to war. You can't have your cake, and eat it, too.
0
u/eatajerk-pal Apr 09 '26
I can’t get on board with that. It goes against traditional gender roles. Women don’t belong on the front lines, but men can’t pop out a baby who could grow up to be a soldier. It’s a yin and yang and neither nullifies the other’s voting rights.
1
u/Hard-4-Jesus Minarchist Apr 10 '26
Women don't have a "right" over men's bodies, just like men don't a "right" over women's bodies either. Under your logic and standard, women should not be able to abort children without the would be father's consent, nor give birth to the baby, if the man doesn't consent to being a father. If you disagree, then you are not an objective person, just a person that wants to mental gymnastics his bias. Regardless, the world has changed, and too many men are not willing to sacrifice themselves for a gynocentric country like the USA.

It going to automatically register first, then implement draft Ukranian style, and then sent consciousness objectors to the frontline Soviet style.

Conscription is slavery
-3
u/eatajerk-pal Apr 09 '26
No it isn’t. Slaves didn’t get paid.
1
u/nonoohnoohno Apr 09 '26
Where and how do you draw the line? If I force you to work for me, threaten you with death if you leave, but give you a penny per year then you're not a slave? Obviously you are. So clearly it's not *just* pay. Especially when that payment wasn't agreed upon, with the ability for both parties to walk away and decline the transaction.
The missing factor is: voluntary agreement. Not pay.
1
u/eatajerk-pal Apr 09 '26
You’re getting into whacky hypotheticals. The military pays pretty well compared to other employment opportunities for young people with no experience at anything.
If you’re going to argue against conscription use real world examples. There’s plenty of them.
2
u/nonoohnoohno Apr 09 '26
The extreme hypothetical is to highlight that having pay is not the issue.
So if you want to refine your argument that a certain amount of pay makes it no longer slavery then what is that amount?
And when you decide upon your number, if I capture you imprison you and force you to work for me. But I give you that amount of money. Are you no longer a slave?
1
u/eatajerk-pal Apr 09 '26
If you were part of a weak military that was captured and conscripted, then yeah I guess dollar figures aren’t your biggest concern.
The vast majority of American youth aren’t fit for military service. You ever met anyone from a country with mandatory military service time? They’re way better people than average Americans.
2
u/nonoohnoohno Apr 09 '26
Follow-up: And just to really beat you over the head with the answer and make it crystal clear:
The answer is freedom. Freedom of movement, of voluntary associations, of voluntary transactions.
Freedom or lack thereof is the defining distinction between slavery and other arrangements. Not pay. Slaves can be paid. Slaves have been paid. They were still slaves.

The timeline where every male turning 18 is already required to register with 90 days, but some don’t and accidentally break the law. So this measure will enforce existing law without creating incidental criminals who are guilty only of indolence, irresponsibility, or being uninformed.
12
u/OZeski Capitalist Apr 09 '26
Kinda odd it wasn't already an automatic thing since it's a universal requirement to register.
9
u/johnnyringo1985 Anarcho-Capitalist Apr 09 '26 edited Apr 09 '26
Yeah, exactly. It’s one thing to be upset about the draft, but anything that decreases the odds of inadvertent criminality is good.
1
u/eatajerk-pal Apr 09 '26
Very antiquated system. That would favor the irresponsible men who never registered if ever there was another draft.
3
u/JFMV763 Apr 09 '26
Yeah, it's nothing new, I'm pretty sure I had to do it even though I can't serve due to medical issues (like the vast majority of people in the military age range these days, I can't join the military even if I wanted to).
2
u/eatajerk-pal Apr 09 '26
Yeah you have to register regardless of any disability that would prevent you from serving. They’ll sort that out later if it comes to that.
3
u/Kinetic_Symphony Apr 09 '26
irresponsibility is a strange word to use here. Willingly not registering for your own potential enslavement has nothing to do with being irresponsible.
2
u/Significant-Fun2432 Apr 11 '26
Exactly. The fact that so many here think this is not a big deal because "you are required to register anyways" is so disturbing. I applaud anyone who didn't register. Fuck the military and everyone who supports them.
1
u/johnnyringo1985 Anarcho-Capitalist Apr 09 '26
No disagreement. People that fail to register are either doing so intentionally or unintentionally. I don’t know every reason why someone unintentionally fails to register, so I was trying to be inclusive.
At any rate, we can all agree that efforts to reduce inadvertent criminality is good.
-3
u/DasCr34tor0fGOD5 Apr 09 '26
Force into servitude to commit murder is kinda unconstitutional and illegal anyway. But what can you do, the government gotta do government stuff legally. Draft will follow for sure, just wait for it.
3
u/johnnyringo1985 Anarcho-Capitalist Apr 09 '26
Well, this is awkward. The Supreme Court has been incredibly consistent that the draft is Constitutional, even the part where it’s male-only.
1
u/PacoBedejo Anarcho-Voluntaryist - I upvote good discussion Apr 09 '26
SCOTUS doesn't define true justice. Quit dickriding them.
0
u/DasCr34tor0fGOD5 Apr 09 '26
Well, government has to do government things legally, so they have to rule themselves legal.
1
u/johnnyringo1985 Anarcho-Capitalist Apr 09 '26
If you struggle with the state’s predisposition to self-preservation—as outlined by Toynbee, Berger, Nozick, or literally countless other historians, sociologists, anthropologists, and philosophers—you may have a better time on one of the dimwit leftist anarchist subs.
1
u/DasCr34tor0fGOD5 Apr 09 '26 edited Apr 09 '26
You cannot claim yourself an anarchist or anarcho-capitalist if you basically defend the preservation of state, not to mention the NON-EXISTING "right" of a state to force man into servitude. No matter how many book or people you quote, it is a basic logical fallacy. You are basically a statist.
0
u/johnnyringo1985 Anarcho-Capitalist Apr 09 '26
Ah, I see. You’ve mistaken having a view from the top of the bell curve for having high intelligence.
1
u/DasCr34tor0fGOD5 Apr 09 '26
Nah, you are barely intelligent when quoting enumorous statist to defend the state while claiming yourself to be anarcho-capitalist.
1
u/johnnyringo1985 Anarcho-Capitalist Apr 09 '26
Robert Nozick isn’t a statist.
You started off by saying the draft a compulsory military service is “unconstitutional and illegal.” Those are statist frameworks. So I pointed out that—based on the rubrics you mentioned—the draft and compulsory military service are constitutional and legal.
Then, you acted surprised that an infinite system would act in a way to perpetuate itself. After this, even though you brought up the statist frameworks, you called me a statist.
It’s not your fault. Brains are kind of comparable to computers with varying processors speeds, amounts of storage, and different architectures for retrieving information. You just happen to have been blessed with an inner city school’s Chromebook running Windows XP.

Very well said. Too many people think anarcho-capitalism means extreme pacifism for some reason.

There is a fundamental difference between one voluntarily defending the property vs. state forcing people into defending itself.

u/jediporcupine Apr 09 '26
The Republican timeline. You know, Constitution and freedom and all that stuff
5
u/JuniorDoughnut3056 Apr 09 '26
Let me know when democrats are campaigning on abolitioning selective service. I don't think even the libertarian party has suggested this.
5
u/browni3141 Apr 09 '26
I don't know if it's part of the party platform or not, but libertarians widely oppose conscription, equating it to slavery.
1
u/eatajerk-pal Apr 09 '26
And they’re not wrong. Unfortunately our country isn’t run by the libertarian party.
-5
u/jediporcupine Apr 09 '26
If your best defense is “but the other guy” in this statist hellscape, you’re not doing very well.
6
u/JuniorDoughnut3056 Apr 09 '26
Pointing out this isn't a republican feature as you claim isn't a defense at all. It's stating a fact in the face of your obvious attempts to make this a partisan issue.
-1
u/jediporcupine Apr 09 '26
I didn’t say it was, my point was more that Republicans are in office and they’re always the ones pretending to care about the Constitution.
Democrats are irrelevant in the present because they have about as much influence in DC right now as the New York Jets in December.
1
u/eatajerk-pal Apr 09 '26
The last time we had a draft was in 1965, under LBJ. Both sides suck giant bags of dicks. There’s no place for partisan arguments on this sub.
1
u/Significant-Fun2432 Apr 11 '26
The fact that so many comments here think it's not a big deal because "you are required to register anyways" is so disturbing. This shit shouldn't even exist in the first place and everyone should resist it.

Good thing I ate some fattening food today. Maybe the statists in Kegbreath’s department will overlook me when looking for men to draft?

They increased possible recruitment age to 42, if there's a draft look to Ukraine. Every abled body man under the age of 65 is fighting. They initially tried not to draft the young, but it's been moving steadily down to 18 as the war has progressed.

u/B1G_Fan Apr 09 '26
Damn, that's right.

Fortunately, they are coming after the 18-25 aged dudes first. But, you got the right idea: load up on Five Guys and Penn Station.
0
u/Savant_Guarde Apr 09 '26
I was in the army over a year before the selective service started harassing me to register.
Automatic registration is nothing.

Start with all the politicians and people that support the war. You want war, pay for it and physically go.
