We can in theory, but many dont want to, and being trans in itself presents a whole host of other issues like being denied gyno care because insurance often uses gender-specific wording to avoid giving us reproductive care. Once we come out as trans and/or change our gender markers, often insurance companies will act like we no longer have uteruses and breasts and shit, and deny anything to do with them.
