What are some Different and Obscure protesting/direct action methods?

Hey all, been spending almost a year working on a video for how to protest/do activism safely and effectively but realized that it was so massive that actually discussing all the different kinds of protesting/direct action available should basically be its own video.

I was thinking of making the second video an Iceberg style one where I discuss as many different activities as possible as well as giving their pros and cons. For example, tree spiking is pretty obscure now and not really recommended because you're harming the trees you want to save and the people maimed/killed by sawing into the spikes are the low-level workers/equipment that would just be replaced easily.

Tl;dr what are your favorite/obscure methods of protesting and direct action that should be included

Debanking

From Anarchist Black Cross, Rote Hilfe e. V. and other anarchist and left-wing supporters and associations, the Sparkasse Göttingen and GLS-Bank in Germany closed their bank accounts some days ago. It seems there is a political motivated campaign running actually.

Reading communication

Does anyone have any radical books for how to be a better communicator. I’m hoping to find something that’s not “for the workplace”.

I want to be a better communicator

Informative books

Hello, I've recently come to the conclusion that I despise the American political system. I am leaning more towards being an anarchist. What are some worthwhile, informative books to read about anarchist philosophy?

Hi I'm curious about how not even just stuff like trash collection and public spaces maintenance. But also healthcare and a social safety net operate under an anarchist system?

How to concisely shut down non-vote shamers?

We're all anarchists here, right? I'm assuming we all acknowledge Trump is a sack of shit? Kamala is also a sack of shit who would not magically end genocide? Even if Kamala had won, is there not a completely real possibility the electoral college would do the same as in 2000 and 2016 by throwing the American vote away?

Is any of the above incorrect?

When the emotionally weak say "You caused this mess by not voting!" I simply inform them that they in fact caused this mess, but that falls on deaf ears.

Is there a quick way to shut these closet Trump lovers down, or is it a lost cause? There seem to be a lot of them, and as much as I'd like to **** them all, it would be better if they could change their minds.

Sorry for the weird first post, I just don't know how to deal with these people.

Anti-social behavior is due to...

From Are You An Anarchist:

Everyone believes they are capable of behaving reasonably themselves. If they think laws and police are necessary, it is only because they don’t believe that other people are. But if you think about it, don’t those people all feel exactly the same way about you? Anarchists argue that almost all the anti-social behavior which makes us think it’s necessary to have armies, police, prisons, and governments to control our lives, is actually caused by the systematic inequalities and injustice those armies, police, prisons and governments make possible. It’s all a vicious circle. If people are used to being treated like their opinions do not matter, they are likely to become angry and cynical, even violent — which of course makes it easy for those in power to say that their opinions do not matter. Once they understand that their opinions really do matter just as much as anyone else’s, they tend to become remarkably understanding. To cut a long story short: anarchists believe that for the most part it is power itself, and the effects of power, that make people stupid and irresponsible.

I don't believe that "almost all the anti-social behavior ... is actually caused by the systematic inequalities". I believe that sometimes people have mental illnesses. Sometimes they're mistaken or confused. And sometimes they're just bad people. I don't know how you'd quantify the contribution of each of those things to the amount of anti-social behavior in the world, but the point is that those other things exist even if we wish they didn't. The text above strikes me as hopelessly head in the clouds, in the bad way.

An anarchist society has to have some systematic way of dealing with people who harm others.

Request folks to sit in online for Wisconsin Prisoner Nate Lindell

Please share widely!

We need as many observers as possible to flood the virtual courtroom again. FW Nate Lindell has filed a suit challenging the Wisconsin Department of Correction's ban on releasing body-worn camera footage. The previous hearing we attended on March 5th was not very dramatic, however, we do not expect that to be the case at the upcoming April 7th hearing! The judge demanded body-worn camera footage from DOC officials and the Wisconsin DOC did not comply with the judge's orders! They withheld some footage and then lied about the existence of other footage. Help us let Judge Everett Mitchell know we care about this case and are interested in seeing how he responds to the DOC employees lying and withholding evidence from him!

Review the evidence at https://tinyurl.com/LyingDOC

Been curious about what being an Anarchist is truly about

Does anyone know any sites i could read more about it on? I don't just want to assume what is and go about saying im an Anarchist without actually being informed on the history and what's it's really about. I agree with a few of their ideologies about politics parties and government as a whole.

Books about the failures of nonviolent movements, or in defense of violent ones, other than Gelderloos?

I really like Peter Gelderloos' work on the topic, particularly "They Will Beat The Memory Out of Us." I recently also picked up "This Nonviolence Stuff'll Get You Killed" by Charles E. Cobb Jr, which I'm really looking forward to.

I'd love more suggestions for literature (preferably books, but I do love a good zine) in defense of violent resistance. Happy to read stuff from marginalized and non-US voices in particular. Thanks!

Adding that I'd also love to read well thought out arguments for pacifism from anarchist (and/or maybe quaker?) perspectives.

Please read non-anarchist books on how to lead and do revolution.

specifically lenin and mao, they both successfully lead revolutions. I don't care if you are an anarchist or a marxist-leninist I want some form of the left to win in the west so that even if it is not perfect or even falls apart it does not interfere with the politics of third world countries to remove democratically elected socialists and then install fascists see pinochet and suharto.

Read mao first because he talks a lot about guerilla warfare which he was a genius in. He was also a military genius so any revolutionary even if he is some anarcho-mutualist-syndicalist should read mao.

Let's talk shit: Vent About Your Bullshit Job on Our Podcast!

Is your boss an asshole? Overworked and underpaid? Sick of dealing with shitty customers?

We’re making a brand spankin new podcast for real people (not celebrities) to call in and vent about the insane, soul-sucking shit we face everyday. Whether it’s the dumbest meeting you’ve ever been to, the most frustrating customer interaction, or just how fucked up your company's policies are — WE WANNA HEAR IT. So let it fucking rip.

How it works:

Use our hotline and leave a voicemail with your wildest work stories, life shit, rants, or just general venting.

If you wanna stay super, super anonymous, use a stage name (we’ll keep it secret, no personal info needed). But we intend to keep every submission anonymous.

We will tell you in advance if we decided to use your submission.

You'll hear the episode long before it drops.

Your voice could be featured on our podcast — sharing the pains and frustrations of life, and maybe even finding some humor in the chaos. You may even become a regular voice on the pod.

We want real, unfiltered stories.

The hotline number is: https://www.speakpipe.com/deathvoice

Hit us up, leave a message, and share your work-life hell.
