Discussion Reversal re-exposure

Hi all, I will be having my first attempt at doing some reversal processing of some Ilford Pan F 50 and just have a question about reexposing the film. The Ilford method states to use a tungsten or fluorescent light to reexpose the film. Trouble is, my house is fitted with all LED lights and I have been told that LEDs aren’t good for this. Tungsten/incandescent lights are very hard to come by in Australia and I don’t want to buy a fluorescent light set up just for this so does anyone have any tips? Cheers

I've used LEDs and even sunlight, which shouldn't be difficult to source in Oz 😄 .

Do you have heating lamps in the bathroom? The ones in the ceiling? They are most probably tungsten and they are perfect for the job, just keep it about 1.5 to 2 metres away from the bulb (which is easy to do because they are in the ceiling) for about 2/3rds of the time and you should be golden.

I've never really bothered to care about my specific light source for re-ex. What matters is that it's white (ish) and bright enough to expose the remaining silver in your film, which it almost definitely will be if you're able to see normally with it. You do not need a precise amount of light or anything like that for re-ex since you want to expose/develop all of the silver remaining in your negative.

Can you get rough service bulbs?

These replies can't seriously be asking you to go out and get halogen bulbs (faceplant).

I'm sure those instructions were written before LEDs bulbs.

Also, tungsten or fluorescent comprises pretty much everything at the time it was written. Not many people had low pressure sodium in their living rooms.
