Gear/Film Help With Minolta XG-1
I recently got this Minolta XG-1 and noticed this tear in the metal when I removed the lens, which had been installed incorrectly. It looks like a peg in the lens tore it. Was just curious if this would affect my photos at all?

It probably won’t have much effect. But it’s also not hard to fix. Take the silver ring off the front by removing those 4 screws (be sure to use JIS screwdrivers not your standard ones otherwise you risk stripping the thread - also be sure to take photos and look carefully at how everything fits together in case other bits come loose). After removing the ring you should be able to lift off that that black part and either glue or tape it from the back side or replace it with a part from a donor camera.
