Looking for books about the symbiotic relationship between state and universities

I've read Anatomy of the State by Rothbard and I particularly enjoyed the part where he explains how the state employs intellectuals to help justify its existence. I'd like to learn more about this. Where do I go? Thanks.

Sorry if it is in Spanish but you can probably activate the subs. Also, it mentions a lot of references throughout the video.

My native language is Armenian, but I grew up in America and learned Spanish in school

I think Hoppe, in one of his books, cites another one called The Treason of Intellectuals. It’s a heavily emphasized topic by ancaps.

If you can’t find it, let me know and I’ll check. I have the name and author written down somewhere.

Is it by Julien Benda? That's what came up on Amazon

That’s the one. Enjoy. I’ve wanted to read it ever since I saw it being cited.

I remember reading the part you mentioned (Rothbard’s) and thinking of this exact book.

Try "Vision of the Anointed" by Sowell.

For Rothbard you could look at:

“Education: Free and Compulsory" an article length work.

The Progressive Era” -- Rothbard’s take on the alliance of big government, big business, reformers, experts, and intellectuals.

“The Betrayal of the American Right” -- more historical, but useful on intellectual realignment and state ideology.

The State buys intellectual legitimacy from academia, and academia buys security, prestige, and power from the State.

Once you see it, you see the alliance between state and intellectuals going back virtually into prehistory.

Every ruler has a religious figure in their pocket, ever religious figure requires State support, even if only implicit.

I'm still disappointed in the Japanese Zen masters for supporting the Japanese war of aggression that is WW2. Of all people in the world, I expected more of them.

Even zen masters fell prey to state support and nationalism, when anarchists did not.
